I rather it be this way! That way I stay balanced out and on the right path to graduate in time and not overwhelm myself by my own pick of hands. My school automatically chooses your classes in the LPN Program. They give you an outline of pre-reqs and of semesters when you're actually in the nursing program. I figure they have it set up this way for a reason, so I won't question it. :) This way, I know I won't bite off more than I can chew and I can take classes that most likely coincide with one another and/or mesh well.
I don't evaluate it on a "like" or "dislike" basis, as frankly that is unproductive and a waste of energy and brain space. It is what it is and I can't change it. I'll control the things I can.
But yes, I have liked all of my clinical instructors so far. The hours and days just are what they are. Tuesday clinicals means no Monday night football for me - would prefer it otherwise but a small price to pay to miss two football seasons in exchange for a new career.
It's ok, I guess. Our schools has about 160ish students 1st semester and they arranged the classes for us. I can understand why, would totally clog the system if everyone was going for the same few classes. When we do our 1st orientation we pick a number, then we go and pick 5 or 6 sections of classes we'd like, and when they call our number we go sign up for the section we want. Of course the best times fill up fast, so it sucks if you have a higher number. A lot of people either drop our or fail first semester, so we do get to pick our other semester classes!
I don't mind them picking my classes, what I have an issue with is not knowing my clinical schedule until the first day of class. I don't have a tree outside my backyard that grows money, so its hard to give my job a short notice of my work availability. I just tell my job to expect changes in my availability and as soon as I know my schedule, they will.
Wow, that felt good to get off my chest. lol.
Should have made my point*L* What I was going to say was that the times they pick aren't always convienient, but that's the way it goes. I am lucky to have an awesome babysitter, and my only wish was to have a 1245 or a Sat clinical (otheriwse it's a 645am clinical and didn't want to wake my kids at 530). I got the last 1245 clinical, but some of the other class times are crappy. Oh well. I'll deal!
yes i do that is how my orientation and registration for classes went and so did my clinical...they gave us a registration form already copied and with a list of classes, days, and times...all we did was transfer it to the carbon copy of the registration form...nice and simple...the professor then listed the day of clinicals there was one spot left open so i volunteered...they also pick our clinicals and rotations...we start out at a nursing home then spend the next semester in a hospital
Nice and smooth
