Any accelrated program that says it does not have pre reqs is lying. What they do is combine the pre-reqs in the program and charge you an arm and a leg for it. Your basic Microbiology, Chemistry A&P ect can be taken at your local Community College for a small amount of money. Grants paid for 100% of my schooling.

These accelerated programs are yousully private and by the time you graduate you are usually 50-70k in debt. If you want to pursue nursing, despite the fact that most new nurses cant find jobs. I would recommend taking your pre-reqs at a local Community College and then do the RN/BSN at your local State University. A few more months or even a year of your time is not worth 60k worth of debt.

You've absolutely got to have SOME prereqs for any program I've ever heard of. The majority of them are worked in with your nursing classes (but I would not recommend going this route) but I've never heard of a program that would accept you without you having completed the required level of math, an english course, and a general psychology course. Good luck!!!

Thank you and I fully understand where you are coming from but, once you get some years of experience under you then you will realize that over half of the stuff they made you take in the comm. college you will never ever use in nursing. You were lucky that grants paid for your education. I am working with LPN's with years of exp. that is doing the program through the comm.college they complain about what they are being taught and how long the program is also, once the pre-reqs are finish will they be able to get into the nursing program or will there be a waiting list. Not only do we have years of exp. as a LPN we have age in front of us and most of us did the 12 month PN program so we would have to start college from the very beginning as opposed to going to a private school and be finish with the RN program in 18-24 months and not 24-48 months.:crying2::o

Helene Fuld is an 18-month program in Harlem, and I belive they don't have any prereqs but they do require you to either get all grades higher than an 85 in your Nursing Program, and if you don't than you can work a year as an LPN and then go into their program.

It is 14 months long and has a relatively low NCLEX first time pass rate.

That's scary:o:eek:.Is the school still open? How often do they have admission to the school?

the university of rio grande, located in rio grande, oh holzer school of nursing offers a 14 month advanced placement track for lpn's.

i hope this information is helpful. :specs:

I agree and I will take that in as well. A lot of them don't have good nclex pass rates either.
