A HIDA SCAN?

I'M using a friends computer and have to leave soon, so I don't have time to look it up... I am wondering what HIDA stands for so I CAN write it on consents - - - spell it out on consents......

Anyone had a HIDA scan??

Care to share your impressions? Your experience??

hepatobiliary iminodiacetic acid scan....and in a nutshell it is used to evaluate the function of your gallbladder and bile ducts..

I'd like to hear from someone who had one.....

I had a HIDA scan ~2 yrs ago...from what I recall, I was NPO morning of, went in to radiology, they started an IV, I laid down, the nurse injected the hormone (can't spell it...cholecystekin?)...then we waited! My GB wouldn't contract as expected, they had me sip some H2O and it finally did its thing...while my mom and I watched it on the monitor. If I recall correctly,

It was ordered b/c ultrasound showed no gallstones but I was still having pain...
