I had a HIDA scan ~2 yrs ago...from what I recall, I was NPO morning of, went in to radiology, they started an IV, I laid down, the nurse injected the hormone (can't spell it...cholecystekin?)...then we waited! My GB wouldn't contract as expected, they had me sip some H2O and it finally did its thing...while my mom and I watched it on the monitor. If I recall correctly,
It was ordered b/c ultrasound showed no gallstones but I was still having pain...
