I graduated and became a CNA May 2010 and still to this day have not found a job sue to not having experience and it's getting very frustrated. I have applied EVERYWHERE out here that I could find. Even home health wants you to have atleast 6 months- 1 year experience. I'm starting to feel that I went to school for nothing an on top of that my certificate expires at the end of August and I am not paying to re new it since I can't find a job. Does anyone have any leads out here PLEASE!!!!
CPR and First aid are not the same as BLS for healthcare providers. CPR and first aid are nice, but certifications like AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, are all more vauble and looked at by hospitals/LTC than just CPR. Do you know anybody else in your class who got hired? Did you ask them how they got there job? The person right above this answer has a good suggestion. Sometimes volunteering will help increase your odds.

My CPR card says BLS and no I haven't heard of 1 that I still talk to that has found a job yet
If you have had it for a year but all you needed was a minimum of 6mo experience why not volunteer at your local hospital? Even if you tell them you are a pre-nursing student ( such as myself) and they are full they will find you hours! I'm assuming you collect unemployment if you have been jobless for 3 years use some ot that time to get experience even if they don't pay you- outdated work experience always looks bad...but community service hours always good! Think about it if you are trying to hire someone you want to see that they show ambition towards what they are doing and will give the same dedication to your company/ business. ( Ps- I'll be getting my CNA this summer and believe I already have a job lined up... It IS possible- and I live in Henderson)
