Does the Air Force treat you different as direct commission then enlist airman

Published

I have a question to anyone who has been in the Air Force either enlist or direct commission. I am currently a nursing student with goals to be in the Air Force once I achieve my license. My question is does the Air Force treat you different as direct commission then enlist airman.

I heard from someone who said that direct commission people are treated with more respect during the basic training process then enlisted people. Direct commission are treated more as adults cause they have achieved a specialty that the Air Force values whereas enlist people are civilians generally between ages 18-27 and maturity level is different.

Is this true or not?

If you can please share your experiences joining the Air Force as a nurse.

Specializes in EMT, ER, Homehealth, OR.

I am Army but can answer your question and it is yes. As a nurse you are a commissioned officer not an enlisted Airmen. All services expect more out of their junior officers than their junior enlisted are treated as
