Hi everyone,
I'm sitting at my desk utterly bored out of my mind and trying to keep myself occupied while I am still waiting on word from the boards. However, while catching up on some of the previous posts. I ran across something I thought I would throw out there and see what people's opinions are.
We have chatted different times about rumors about this DOD joint military medical force. For some who haven't heard basically in plain language, Airforce, Army & Navy joining medical group to save DOD money, etc.
Well I personally didn't know how I felt about it since I'm on the baby side of commissioning into the Navy.
Here is a interesting website I stumbled across that trains officers O-4 and above to "handle the new transition".
So it looks like ball is already rolling. Since there are officers in each branch training on how to handle our careers we might as well talk about it!

If anyone has any other websites or info that may speak on more information please share, comments, ideas, feelings.

I think it's awesome and about time we treat every branch at every available medical facility worldwide. We are all members of the US military, why not work together.

Sassy - I do not see where it talks about a transition to a DOD health care force.. I thought that DRMI had been around since late80s/early90s and is just one of many joint branch training institutions where we share courses to share the best resources and often to minimize the cost.
I have not come across any health care branch consolidation info except on a few anecdotal notes that have been posted here at allnurses.com, if anyone has some links or info on this - please post it, thanks!

There's too much redundancy in the military to begin with. I agree with Hackworth, the Air Force and Marine Corps should be abolished.
Hah. well said. Cursed Irishman - you never did give a PM response on your stance on 'drill and ceremony'.

Uhhhh....say what?
I have heard like many others about this possible happening. Since we have mentioned it a few times on here. I wanted to know what people thought or feelings about it. I never said this is going into effect on 2010 or anything. I know my medical recruiters said they have heard of it also. I also spoke with my cousin who is an Army Nurse in Germany and we have these conversations about it.
