Now don't mean to ruffle feathers. I an working towards completing my prerequisites for few programs in the state. I don't mind if I do get into an Associate program as long as I can achieve the license is all that matters.
However, that ECHN and Milford Hospital be the only hospital's by 2020 taking nurse's with associate degrees would seem rehab/nursing homes are going to be over staffed with nurse's if budget allows it.
What's your thought on the education of nurse's and it's effects of job outlook in CT for the future?

I think it is hard for new grads with any degree to get a hospital job. I think the glut of for-profit schools, and the public perception of nursing being a job with endless opportunity and earning power, are bigger issues.
For most people, I think getting your ASN, finding a job (home health, clinic based, LTC, or hospital), and then working on your BSN is the best option, financially speaking. If you are lucky enough to be supported financially during school and aren't racking up debt, then it would make sense to just power through and get the darn BSN.

The hospital that I retired from in 2013 , in NY State, wanted to achieve magnet status eventually. So they would hire an ASN , with the understanding that the nurse would become BSN within 2-3 yrs, I forget which. If you were ASN , and had worked there less than 5 yrs, you had to get your BSN in 2 yrs also. If you were there greater than 5 yrs, you were exempt. Many chose to go on anyway, even if they didn't have to. I didn't because I was so close to retirement. Both of the suggestions above are valid; I think you need to plan on BSN if you want to work in a hospital. If they don't require it now, I believe it's just around the corner, everywhere. Just my opinion.

For major hospitals in CT it is...unless...you have an "in". ie: work there already as a pct, uc etc...otherwise...good luck
Think only hospitals that don't so far are Sharon, Waterbury, Milford, UCONN Health, and Eastern CT Hospital Network.
Didn't put Western CT Health Network or Stamford Hospital think they prefer you to have a BSN. Bristol is in the process of going to magnet status.
