Do you recommend Littmann for a steth? Pros/Cons of it.

Hi, getting ready to purchase my steth (HOW EXCITING) for school. I have one that is pretty cheap, think it's like a 9.00 one. Does the job. Im interested in a LITTMANN, do you think I am because of the name? Or are they really better than the others? Which model do you have? There are two models I was interested in (mainly due to the pricing). They were Classic II and the II SE Lightweight. Do any of you have either? I was leaning more towards the lightweight but wasn't sure of the bell shape the way it was. Can any of you help me out?

Thanks!!!

Before going with Littman, I suggest trying DRG. The soft rubber-like membrane on the bell is great at conducting sound. It's not only treated with a bacteriacide, it can be removed and replaced with funky colored new ones. It has patented gel eartips that comform to the ear and has a piece on the lumen that keeps it from sliding off your neck when not in use. I bought the Cardiology steth. The acoustics are excellent. At $140, it's every bit as good if not better than the Littman Cardiology III at $180.

I've heard that Ultrascope is also worth looking into.

check out the ultrascope here..

i tried one at a local store, though, and although they claim you can hear through a folded up sweatshirt, i couldn't really hear as well as i can with my littman cardiology..

i WANTED to..really...cuz they're so darned cute :)
