Do psych patients ever stalk their nurse?

Do psych patients ever stalk their nurse? Also, have you ever seen a former patient in public who recognized you and approached you?

When I did my psych clinical in nursing school, I talked to a girl with some dependent personality disorder who became suicidal when her ex boyfriend from two years ago got married. she talked her head off to me. her roommate told me later that she never talked in the two weeks they roomed with each other. the next day, the same patient kept telling me that she was being discharged in a few days and her brother was going to pick her up. she kept dropping hints about it and she followed me around the floor too. I'm considering going to psych myself. that's another thing I worry about, female stalkers and being attacked.

To address your concerns regarding your safety, I suggest you have an unlisted phone number. Also, you can set it up with DMV so that others cannot get your address from your car's license plate (which anyone can until you change this). And make sure others know better than to give out your personal information, like your last name and the area where you live.

Our badges only give our first name and position...no one knows our last name....would make it difficult to be stalked when pts. cannot find you !!!! I ever (it has happened) a pt. asks for my last name in order to contact me after discharge, I always tell them "we do not give our last names"....This curbs any stalking outside the hospital....as for seeing any pts. after discharge, if I do, I say hello and never mention the hospital....this has only happened once or twice...
