Do private duty LVN/LPN ever get a pay raise?

I have heard that if you are a LVN/LPN and you work for an agency, you will never get a pay raise? Is this true? Several people told me this. Please advise.

Why would you be reimbursed for mileage working PDN? You drive from your home to the client's home, no? That's your commute to work. Home health nurses doing visits don't get reimbursed for the gas from their home to their first client nor the time it takes to get there. If a PDN draws blood for her patient, the only miles which are reimbursable are the miles from the client's house to the lab.

Also travel between cases is or should be paid for. Medicare/medicaid pay the agency either mileage or travel pay (can't remember exactly) for travel between cases. Even if they don't pay you this, they are getting that money. So ask for it if you travel from one case to another.

I meant driving to the lab from the pt's home. You didnt get paid for that.

That is going out of my way to do something that most Pdn's do not do.

Hourly homecare? yes

Pdn? No

I have never, ever drew labs before on a pdn pt,and have not since.

I would not mind getting some sick days,401 k contribution, and 3 weeks Pto in exchange for $2 cut in hourly pay.

I have no retirement savings. I need to start somehow.
