Do most people that fail NCLEX get a high number of questions? say 200 or more?

Published

I was wondering if those that have not passed the NCLEX RN would mind sharing how many questions you had? I am freaking out!!! thanks, jess

Specializes in Med-Surg.

The number of questions really is no indication on whether you passed or failed.

You're going to get a wide variety of answers that isn't really going to make you feel any better. People fail from 75 to 200 plus.

Best wishes to you. Try not to dwell to much on this dreadful test and the number of questions you got. We all walk away feeling like a failure. Good luck.

Number of questions has no bearing on the final outcome. There are nurses that flunk with 75, as well as nurses that pass with 265. Each exam is different, and each nurse is different.

Best wishes on your results. Please keep us posted. :)

It's unfortunate to say, but I have taken it three times and have failed everytime (obviously). The toehr two members are correct in say it isn't in the # of questions. People fail because they fail, it doesn't matter how many questions you get.

The first time I took it I had 165 (that was a while ago), the 2nd time I had 80 questions and this last time I had all 265 questions.

Don't freak out! Just stay calm and breathe. You'll do fine. Remember no matter what the outcome you gave it your best and that's all you can ask of yourself. If you fail, pick yourself up and do it again. Never give up on yourself. I have meet two people on this board who have failed numerous times (one passed on the 6th try and the second on the 7th try). You will succeed!

Brandi,

What have you been doing to prepare for the exams? Books that you have been using? Where in CA are you? You can send me a pm if you would like..

Tell me what you have been doing, and I can probably offer some tips and advise that wil help you pass........... :)

I really do hope that the number of questions you get is no indication of whether you passed or failed. I had a friend fail at 265. I just took the boards and had 265. I have heard so many rumors about this. I took an NCLEX prep class and they told me that if you keep getting questions then that is good. It shows that you are not out of the game and that you have time to prove yourself as knowledgeable. I hope this is true because I'm ready to start my career. If I didn't pass then I at least know what the NCLEX is all about and I have more time to study. :crash_com

hello everyone....just wanted to say that the number of questions really doesn't matter...i just took my NCLEX on June 6 and had all 265 questions and I passed....so i don't think that getting a high number means you didn't do well....i think it's generally in our nature to doubt ourselves and just panic...i know i did....but you'll do fine....and if not atleast you don't have to sit through more nursing school....just retest! Good Luck to you all!

Amy
