Just wondering since I am new to home health. This week I filled out two missed visit forms due to patients having to visit the doctor. If it helps the patient's inssurance is Medicaid. I was wondering if somehow I get paid for this missed visits.
Also, does anyone have any updated input in the per visit pay rate for RNs in Florida? SOC, ROC and SN visits? thank you very much for your imput.

I am not aware of getting paid for missed visits. When I don't work, I don't get paid. Some agencies will pay show up pay if you go to the home but for some reason don't work as long as it is beyond your control.
oh, OK thank you... I was just wondering ;-)

Depends on the agency. We don't pay for missed visits that the clinician knew about ahead of time, but if the clinician does a drive by only to discover the patient not at home, then we give a nominal fee to cover gas and time. This is the reason to call the night before and again when you're on the way.

Medicare does not reimburse for missed visits. M-care expects the pt to be re-scheduled. If there are numerous missed visits, there is a question for the necessity of home care. Patients can have MD visits but you re-schedule that week to see if there are new meds/treatments for you to teach. Remember unless it's the last day of your M-care week you have a whole week to reschedule that visit. I have the clinician call me after 2 scheduled visits are missed. I then investigate to see if the pt or clinician is the reason for scheduling issues. I then determine if I should pay for a MV. I've been in the field before so I know how it can be. I've had cases where the nurse is scheduling for their own convenience and not pt's need. If you can't reschedule , let the agency know so another nurse can cover the visit for you.
thank you for your answer, this is not happening often so we dont have that problem I was just guessing since I am new to HH and there's a lot of things I am not familiar with. Thank you

I get paid $10 for a missed visit. (but only if I get to the home and find the pt not there. If I know about the pt having an apt etc, than I am expected to reschedule)
