Do you know the difference?

The difference between a nurse coordinator and a case manager? I have interviews by the same company for both of those positions and they did not explain it very well. Any help would be great.

I would ask for a job description for each to clarify. Good luck at your interviews!

At my hospital the coordinator is the charge nurse and case manager is the nurse that goes through charts and evaluates pts reason for being here, how long they've been here and if insurance is still paying, works on getting them transferred or discharged if they can. Probably not the best explanation, but thats basically it.

I would guess that the nurse coordinator focuses more on clinical tasks with nurses and the case manager focuses on patient flow? It could vary by institution though so I would definitely ask for job descriptions.

My understanding is exactly what MyusernameRN described. The CM is in essence a money person. The coodinator is like, say, an ER coordinator works on making stuff happen in ER (anything from specialty consults, cath lab, imaging, OR), and then getting patients moved on out or up to floor. They will often be required to drop and help bedside.
