I feel your pain..... Ya gotta know it for the A & P tests so that was good enough reason for me at the time to know it. I still surprise myself when I know certain things that I didn't have any idea about before, like when my sisters and I talk about our waistlines, I can say, "Hey, you have WAAAAAY more adipose tissue than I do."
You won't get far in advanced med-surg if your background in A&P is lacking. Bite the bullet and study study, study![/quote']I agree...you think having to learn all the parts of the body is a lot, just wait until you get to Med-Surg and start learning all the possible ways something could go wrong with each part lol...it will def help you a lot if you get it down now so you don't have to go back and reteach yourself when you get there! Good luck!! Use mnemonics that helped me out a lot! There's a website http://www.medicalmnemonics.com that had a whole Anatomy section that is useful!
Hahah thanks everyone, I think I'm just zonked. I'm taking it as a summer course (obviously) so everything is very condensed! I have felt like my head is going to explode all semester. It's also frustrating because my school doesn't teach A&P together as one course. You take anatomy, then you take physiology, so I feel like all I've done to pass this class is MEMORIZE! -Sigh- it's worth it though. I can totally bomb my final tomorrow if I want to and still have an A in the course. :)

By the way, I just fell in love with that website!

What are some things that you remember from your pre-nursing student days that you have never actually used in your career?
I know it's silly, and I SHOULD learn it, but I'm finding myself really frustrated with anatomy... do I really need to know the location of the incus? The arrector pilli? ALL of the carpals? The dorsal root ganglion?
I think my brain is just really full. >.
