Do I qualify for ABSN @ NYU and UMDNJ

Hi Everyone,

I desperately need your advice. Currently, I'm in the process of Applying to NYU and UMDNJ accelerated programs for the Spring 2010 term .

Like some folks, I've a less than adequate GPA ( 2.95), but I'm still hopeful at my chances of getting admission. Call me naive...

I worked two yrs after graduating in the health/fitness field- so I've gained some experiences.

My grades in the pre-reqs. are as follow:

Chemistry-B, Anatomy B, physiology C, microbiology b+, statistics C+, nutrition - c+ and plan to take developmental psych in Winter term.

For people in the program- what do you think my chances are? Should I not apply because of my GPA?? and what can i do to even be considered?

No you don't need to reapply. They will automatically defer your application.

I still haven't heard from them.....They only emailed me on March 23 asking why I don't have a bachelor's degree as of now and I told them I am expected to graduate this May......do you think the fact that I don't have my degree at the time of application makes my app less competitive????!! I am pretty sure they deferred my app to fall 2011.

Last May I graduated from my Bachelors degree while concurrently taking classes at UMDNJ. Just make sure you send them the planned graduation date and send in your diploma when you get it.

I am currently accepted to the summer 2011 program... I think they have picked all their candidates already. I initially applied for the spring 2011 term, and they sent me a packet asking if I would accept their offer for being admitted summer term. just make sure you get all of their requirements (including pre-reqs, ur BLS certification and recommendation letters + degree) as soon as you can. I've contacted the dean several times during my application and she made it clear that my application wouldnt even be looked at until the whole package was complete. Good luck!!

They emailed me last week saying my application is inactivated because I don't have a bachelor degree at the time of application (for summer 2011 application deadline 3/15/2011). UMDNJ doesn't do conditional enrollment?

Another problem is that I am trying to re-apply for Fall 2011 and then realized my school's release date for final transcript and diploma is June 1, 2011 and fall 2011 application deadline is 5/20/2011.

HELP ME what should I do in this case!!!!!

I am quite surprised UMDNJ doesn't have conditional enrollment.

Should I contact dean of my school so I can get some initial form of graduation certificate or something? I don't want to wait till spring 2012.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I do remember they did say there were no longer doing conditional acceptances. I would call them to hear what their final word is regarding your situation, but I have a feeling you may need to reapply in 2012. The summer sessions starts in a few weeks and they're probably already accepting students for the Fall semester due to the overage of people applying. It's always best to send a completed app.
