Hi Everyone

I would like your adviceI work 40 hrs a week and last fall i did two evening classes Pri of Biology and Algebra 1. I got A's for both classes. I studied at least 2-3 hrs a night and still managed to go to bed at 10:30 pm every night lol.I have no kids so I my nights and weekends are mine and my husband is very supportive.

This Spring semester I will be doing A&P1 and College Algebra, both of these will be once a week evening classes. I felt so motivated by everyone here, many having more than one class and children to care for and some working full time like me.

What do you guys think?Am I taking on too much?

It sounds like you are motivated, disciplined and have spousal support which are the key ingredients to success.

I think that you can do it, especially since you aced the other two.

Good luck!

When you start the classes and get the syllabi and input from the instructors you should be able to get an idea if both will be too much and then you can decide to drop one of them at the beginning if need be. Otherwise, as long as you keep organized and don't allow yourself to fall behind, there is no reason why you can't handle these two classes while working. You've already shown yourself that you are capable. So go for it. Good luck.

I should be askin the same question. I work 1 fulltime and 1 part time job a total of 67 hrs a week. I have a 8 year daughter to tend to and i am taking 2 classes this semester. math and a academic skills class (which has nothing to do with my nursing pre-reqs i think) my counsler made me take it.:scrm: So im also wondering am i taking on to much.

I'll say you probably are not over doing it.

I work between 60-100 hours per week when my ship isn't underway, have two kids and a hubby and have taken 15 hours. I usually take only two classes. When my ship is underway, I work about 18 hour days....

I am a single mom to a 4 month old son - I do it all. I work 40 hours a week, and attend classes from 5:30-8:30 pm MW and 6 am-8am Tues-Thurs-Sat. Yes, you read that right - I have a 6 am class on Saturdays.

But for the precise reason that I am a single mom, I want to make my son's life better by becoming a nurse: highly employable, useful skills, good pay, and setting an example for him that hard works pays off. Also, if you value something, (him), you take care of it the best way you know how.

Yeah, great job, you guys! You should be very proud of yourselves.

I think nobody knows what's too much for you, you're the only one who can determine that. When I worked full-time (3x 12h/week) I took two classes usually for a total of 7-8 credits. I'm taking 10 credits right now but work only 2 shifts a week. Even though I have more time to spend on my classes, I feel like I'm drowning sometimes! I guess the combination of A&P, Chemistry, and accelerated psychology was not a very good one, lol! I'll make through though, unfortunately with B's in A&P and chemistry. The upside is that after finishing these classes I can apply to NS. I can not tell you how excited I am to finish A&P in another two weeks and chemistry in another four weeks!

In the end, all of us will make it. Where there's a will, there's a way!

Again wonderful job, everyone! Good luck to all of you!

I think you'll be just fine! I work M-F 9-3:30 or 4 (depending on the day) and I'm taking College Algebra, A&P I, A&P I Lab, and a stupid soc class to finish up my CJ degree. It's hard but it's manageable, just make sure you get yourself into a routine and stick with it. Also make sure you give yourself a brain break every once in a while! I flatly refuse to do anything academic on Friday nights but I set aside all day Sunday for my studies. Good luck to you! You'll do just fine!
