Do I have to join facebook?

Published

Our lecturer started a facebook group for our class.

I honestly don't like facebook because I'm a private person, and I don't like putting pics of myself on the internet and don't like people looking up my profile etc.

I also find that it's going to be very distracting.

I don't see any good in this, but my lecturer is pressuring us to join the group and ask questions & answer other students' questions... :(

At the moment, I'm doing well in the course and I DON'T NEED help from facebookers, I know that they're probably going to ask stupid questions that you find on blackboard or the book.

We have about 110 people in our class, and already 60 people have joined.

Are they going to think that I'm weird if I don't have facebook?

I'm sure the numbers will keep increasing as tests creep closer :(

Also, I'm scared because my classmates could become my colleagues in the future, and I don't want to give too much info about myself.

Once I join the facebook group, I'm sure people will start adding me. :( and they're probably think I'm weird if I refuse to add them...

er.. any tips guys?

one of my instructors did the same thing. All but one of us in the class has facebook, and that one admitted right up front that he has no desire to ever have one, not even for the class. The instructor was fine with that, and no one thought he was weird for not having a facebook.

Of course not. We have a Facebook group for our graduating class but there are several students who aren't a member, mainly because they don't have Facebook at all. They miss out on study aids and things like that that might be posted, but otherwise it's nothing major.

You can creat the account and make everything private in the privacy settings. No can add you or find you unless you choose too. You can find a nurse symbol or something to use as a pic. You are not required to post pictures.

You will need to be a member of the group the instructor creates so you can get the information put out.

No need to make your life public just because you create an account. You set it up how you want it. You can block many things from happening so you only have a plain page full of nothing but the purpose you made the account for. Simple.
