Do I have the job or not? No clue

Published

I interviewed, shadowed and was verbally offered a position. The recruiter and the Director were persistent is talking to me/getting me into the facility for the interview and shadowing.

The offer letter came the next day included the hourly rate and tentative start date. I signed it within a few hours of receiving it and have heard nothing since. Zip.

I've reached out to the recruiter, the hiring manager and the HR contact via email twice as asking about the re: drug test, background, orientation because the tentative start date is less than 2 weeks away now. Still no response.

Login into my application area today to review the offer letter so ensure I didn't misunderstand anything . The signed offer letter is there, but my actual application status states "no longer under consideration" ! This update and the offer letter are literally dated the same day. I reached out again via phone (left messages) and emailed them all again asking if the offer was rescinded/could they please clarify. Crickets.

I turned down 2 other offers for this position.

I will try to circle back to the other offers and see if they are still a possibility. I don't understand what happened or the lack of professional communication at all.

Wow that is so bizarre and frustrating and unprofessional

Sometimes no response is a response. I would personally go up there and either talk to someone in HR or the manager and see them face-to-face and ask him about it. It is totally unprofessional on their part.

How many days have passed since you sent signed offer letter back? " no longer under consideration" could be since you were selected, but not yet changed to HIRED if just 1-2 days especially if staff out sick OR position frozen OR someone internally hired.

If more than a week passed since no contact, agree to show up on unit for face to face contact.  HR notoriously SLOW in getting out next step in hiring process info sent.

Hope it turns out in your favor.

Sometimes people get busy and forget to return calls.  Onboarding can take a while and they're probably doing stuff on the back end. It sounds like you have the job, I would keep following up!

Good Luck!

So, finally after sending a text to the Director and reaching out to HR again with adding the head of HR I got responses. Seems they assumed I knew when/where to be already. Not sure why they would think I would already know but they assured me everything was set, the "no longer under consideration" is a computer program error and confirmed the orientation schedule/expectations.

I'm relieved to say the least - just hope this lack of communication isn't going to be the case going forward with the company.

Thanks to all who responded. I truly appreciate it 🙂
