Do you get laughed at?

Published

I am a prenursing student and am in my 1st semester back in school in 7 years.

This time around, I am taking school seriously and feel blessed just to have the opportunity to go to school.

I am having a few issues in A&P 1 and went to the library and checked out children's books on biology and chemistry and have also visited websites that people on this forum have been kind enough to post.

However, when other people talk of the trouble they are having I show them my books I checked out and tell them to come check out allnurses.com. A couple of people laughed at me and said "What, do you sit around and chat about bones all day?"

But I know I will be laughing at the end of the semester.:lol2:

Well...we took our first test today.....

I passed at least, but the instructor said that on this test that a 70 is just like getting an A if that tells you how hard this test is.

I did notice, however, that the students that were laughing before were not laughing when we got our grades back. :rotfl:

As they say....what goes around, comes around

I made flashcards. I cut pictures out of old textbooks that were bound for trash and used them for my flashcards. I bought the A&P coloring book (probably the same one someone else mentioned) and doodled away.

I went to websites designed for grade schoolers to understand A&P, biology, and made it my friend :)

I went onto websites designed for the layperson on drugs to better understand what the heck they were FOR before worrying about all the rest of the info needed for drug cards. Rephrase: designed for the layperson to BETTER UNDERSTAND drugs/medications, lol....

And I got A's, occasional B's on a bad day. And never worried for a minute I wouldn't "get it" and pass everything. Unlike some of my juvenile classmates who laughed at those of us "Moms" who took this too seriously .

You know.... I had Anatomy last semester (we have Anatomy and Phys seperate)... anyway... my 2nd grader signed up for the science fair at school and wanted to do the anatomy of the human heart... so we checked out a bunch of books from the library that would be suitable for a 2nd grader.... and I wish I had used them when I was taking the course!!!!!

They were very helpful and informative... I got an A in the course... but I wish I would have had some of those books to use for study guides!

Don't let anyone else discourage you! You are doing awesome!
