Do friends outside of nursing school give you a hard time?

Published

Basically the question above...I have friends who aren't in nursing school give me a hard time because I spend a lot of time studying (hello, its nursing school). They seem angry but when I explain to them, its a lot of work, they don't seem to understand and get offended when I don't hang out with them. This isn't like regular school, and I feel bad that I can't be with them, but come on! This is my career and my grades.

Does this happen to anyone else?

I've lost contact and have been out of touch with a lot of people. Nursing school is more time consuming than anything I've experienced. While it really isn't that difficult, it does require a lot of attention and time. I don't have the brain space for much else these days. It's all nursing, all the time around here.

I don't think nursing school is anywhere near as hard as people make it seem to be. I was truly prepared to be swamped with work based on all the advice I was getting, but I found it to be pretty easy and straight forward. Sure, there's some volume involved, but the difficulty level is on the low side. I continued to have time to maintain meaningful relationships outside of the academic setting. I always wondered why people said it consumed their life. Not exactly true.
