Hello all,
I am a new member and very excited about all that you can teach me! I am in LPN school in Cincinnati and am considering doing my LPN to RN online. After reading several forums, I am scared to see that some cities do not like hiring graduates from online programs (even if they are accredited). Does anyone have any light to shed on how Cincinnati area hospitals feel about this?

First, please know that Excelsior is not an ONLINE program. You will study material on your own, and take tests at an approved testing center. You must be very disciplined and committed to complete it. It's not easy. (Look on All Nurses for the "Distance Learning" forum for more insight on this)
Now, as far as places "acknowledging the degree, the Ohio BON does allow graduates of the Excelsior program to sit for the RN boards. Once you've done that, you have the same license as someone who went to a traditional brick and mortar school. The main obstacle to getting a job at that point will probably be being a new grad RN in a down economy where there are few jobs available, not where you went to school.

if it helps any i endorse LPNBearColumbus's point of view. i am an RN , from excelsiors program, and just got hired in a telemetry unit. I had no lpn experience as such, but plenty of overseas nursing experience.
so what they want when they hire you is
a--> your OH RN
b--> nursing experience; if its unit specific , the better it is for you.
