Do Chamberlain credits transfer/ prestigious enough?

Hey guys, i was very curious to know if chamberlain credits transfer to other universities? and if they do, then is there anyone out there that has got their bsn from chamberlain, and applied for crna and gotten in? I took the Adn route, and im currently attending hondros, and i may transfer my adn to chamberlain and finish off my bsn there. Is it possible to get my crna with the bsn from chamberlain? chamberlain is both nlnac, and ccne accredited. Is that accreditation all that matters? or does the university have to be prestigious?

I am currently enrolled in Chamberlain's RN to BSN.

You need to find out what the college that you are applying to wants. What do they require in terms of the BSN. It's hard to say whether the name on your BSN diploma counts, what I would do if I were you is research how many apply and get into the program you are looking into. Don't hesitate to speak with the person in charge of the program. Many times, they state the bare minimum for application knowing darn well that they really require much more because of the volume of applicants they receive.

As a student of Chamberlain, I was concerned about the same things. I contacted UCSF (the university that I am interested in applying to in the next few years), they basically stated that as long as the university has the accreditations that they require, it is acceptable. I have not, however, researched the unversities that the accepted students graduated from.

im going to be coming from hondros to chamberlain, to get my bsn. Are the chamberlain credits transferrable to another university? and thank you for ur reply, i'm going to keep asking around to see if anyone has gone into the crna program after getting their bsn from chamberlain. i don't know the exact answer as i am just going to be starting this october. however, i did do a little research on crna programs before applying the chamberlain and one in glendale (midwestern university) said this about their prereqs...

to be considered for admission to the nurse anesthesia program at midwestern university, a student must submit the following documented evidence:

  1. minimum cumulative grade point average (gpa) of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale. cumulative gpa of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale is recommended to remain competitive. cumulative gpa's are calculated from the applicant's last 150 credits completed by applicants.
  2. minimum science gpa of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale. science gpa of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale is recommended to remain competitive. courses included in the calculation of the science gpa include anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, chemistry, and physics.
  3. completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing or other appropriate degree, granted by regionally accredited u.s. colleges or universities prior to the application deadline of june 1.
  4. satisfactory completion (grades of c or better) of all prerequisite coursework prior to the application deadline of june 1 (grades of c- are not acceptable).
  5. licensure to practice as a registered nurse in at least one legal jurisdiction in the united states or its territories.
  6. minimum of one year of critical care registered nursing experience prior to the application deadline of june 1.
  7. demonstration of sincere understanding of and interest in nurse anesthesia.
  8. oral and written communication skills necessary to interact with faculty, patients, and colleagues. "

so since chamberlain is accredited (well it is conditionally right now b/c the first class is getting ready to graduate, but the other campuses are all accredited, so i am pretty sure they will be too), i would assume the school would accept the bsn from there.

ANd, I don't think you will have much luck asking people in the AZ forum as the first graduating class does so this year, so they haven't been able to transfer anywhere yet. Maybe check in the Illinios or Missori boards (the schools there have been around longer and may be able to answer your specific questions).

Chamberlain's RN-to-BSN is both CCNE and NLNAC-accredited, as you noted. You can find the rest of their accreditation info here: Accreditation | Chamberlain College of Nursing.

thanx you guys, as you can tell, im just a bit nervous about which route to take. So with that said, im probably going to monitor the schools accreditations and continue to go to hondros for my adn then chamberlain for bsn and a year of critical care and then crna program.

My advice ... focus on getting the RN first, and then focus on getting into critical care. The job outlook for new grads is a bit sticky right now, so keep in mind that you may have to relocate to get a critical care job as a new grad, or you might have to work outside critical care first to get enough nursing experience to apply for a critical care position. Can't blame you for being a planner, though -- I'm one as well. :D

yeah, its hard for things to go completely according to plan, but thats the plan im gonna follow until i hit a bump (hopefully dont). Whether or not u come from a really prestigious bsn school, would that make a difference to the crna board? heard of any experiences as such? i kno i ask alot of questions, but what can i do...im a planner lol

Although Chamberlain is now NLNAC and CCNE accredited, please carefully check this school out. I was looking at them just last year, and they did have these same accreditations then; however, if you contact other more notable universities in your area, they will more than likely not accept the credits from this program. Very similar to Hondros, or other "less notable, private" universities. My university (Ohio University) and The Ohio State University will not accept full transfer of credits even after obtaining an associates or bachelors degree from this university. This is found through my own research and is the reason I steered away from obtaining a BSN at Chamberlain.
