Just curious. I have 5 books for one class (although after reading some of the other posts, 5 is not that many!!). What is the likelyhood that I will have to carry them all with me to class??
BTW, my books are:
Handbook of Nursing Diagnosis
Mosby's Diagnostic and Laboratory Test Reference
Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary
Kozier & Erb's Fundamentals of Nursing
Brunner & Suddarth's Testbook of Medical-Surgical Nursing (Vol 1&2)
I hope I can leave a few of them in my car because they're soooo heavy and I also have A&P and math books to carry around.
Thanks!!
You will rarely use all your books at once. I have a similar list of books, that has slowly gotten larger since first semester. During lectures, we know which book to bring because our instructors were very diligent (sp??) about letting us know so we didnt have to break our backs. Many of us bought rolling backpacks to help during the beggining when we were so scared we would forget something. Also they help in keeping organized, but now I have mine on a small bookshelf exclusively for nursing school. I still use my rolling backpack for library trips when I am doing care plans. You will be utilizing ALL of these books during care plans. I find it very helpfull to keep my tabers and drug book on hand during regular studying for tests (along with lecture notes and the actual book for that). So I guess my answer to your question is, be prepared to have to carry all these books at once, but most ocassions (sp?) you will hopefully not be lugging around your 'new best friends' till graduation. In addition, I also have a smaller bag to carry the daily, smaller loads (like a book and a binder); many still use the rolling backpacks just to keep everything together. Also, during those massive care plans, I end up carrying my smaller bag (that holds a good amount) and my rolling backpack and still get stuck with stuff in my hands. Hope this helps!! Good luck!!
I have a lot of books too! I bought a rolling backpack - a big one! They are a lot cheaper at ebags.com than at the school or any store - though I have seen a couple nice ones at garage sales pretty cheap. The rolling backpack is awesome - really really great. It saves my back, and I don't have to stress over bringing "just one more" book I might need. You could probably fit 5 in the backpack I have. Highly recommend it!

Wayne CC is in Goldsboro. We're about an hour southeast of Raleigh.
I think we will be fine once we get back in 'study mode'. I've been out of HS for 6 years myself (gosh!! has it really been that long?!) so studying isn't exactly fresh in my mind either. We'll be fine:)
Good luck!!
