Do you have to carry all your books??

Published

Just curious. I have 5 books for one class (although after reading some of the other posts, 5 is not that many!!). What is the likelyhood that I will have to carry them all with me to class??

BTW, my books are:

Handbook of Nursing Diagnosis

Mosby's Diagnostic and Laboratory Test Reference

Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary

Kozier & Erb's Fundamentals of Nursing

Brunner & Suddarth's Testbook of Medical-Surgical Nursing (Vol 1&2)

I hope I can leave a few of them in my car because they're soooo heavy and I also have A&P and math books to carry around.

Thanks!!:nurse:

Are you going to RCC by any chance? Those are some of the exact books I have for this semester. I am also taking A&P......are you nervous about that in addition to the NUR classes? I am almost sick to my stomach about it.

I doubt you will have to carry all of them. Last semester I had Nsg 101 and once in while would take my Fundamentals book, but mostly just focused on taking notes. If we were working on care plans the teacher advised what book to bring for that day. I know for the most part my classmates don't bring everything to class either. I think weight lifting should be a requirement after seeing all the books! :D

Oops, I meant to add that you will probably use Taber's and Labs & Diagnostic Book for care plans...so you might only need those for reference. I am sure if you ask up front they will let you know what book to bring.

Good luck!

Most of the students in my class used a rolling backpack. I used a rolling suitcase because I carried the kitchen sink too:) It was cheaper than the rolling backpacks, and I use it for traveling now.

Good luck in school and much success!

I RARELY brought my books to class. The only times I did was when we were told to, which was about 5 times.

What I learned very quickly is if we needed a book in the lab for reference or even at lunch to work on an assignment there would always be someone else I could borrow a book from.

I rarely carried any books. I took notes from the lectures, most included power points and then studied from my books to make not cards at home.

Maybe its just me but those rolliing book bag thingies are doofy. :)

It scares the heck out of me!! Everyone keeps saying how hard A&P is, it's a little discouraging but I think I can handle it

I'm going to Wayne CC. Where's RCC?? Roanoke??

I would usually only have my Carpenito (nursing diagnosis) text and or my Wilson (health assessment) books in my bag. On exam day I might have my Fundamental's text too, but that is the biggest text we have and it's too heavy to cart around everywhere, even with a rolling bag!

I brought my textbooks to campus one day - the first day of nursing school. Never again.

If I'm reading out of the textbooks, it's at home. Otherwise, I'm studying off of my notes and power-points.

That's what I keep hearing. I have been out of high school for 12 years, my mind isn't that sharp anymore!!! LOL I think we'll be fine. We just have to let go of the stress, and do our best.

RCC is in Asheboro, Randolph County....Where is Wayne?

Leave your books home. I never bring mine unless told to, the students that did usually only got a sore back. That Erb book is good for home reading we used it to, but I NEVER carried it.
