You do not need a license at home (Phil) to be able to be made eligible for NCLEX. HOWEVER - if you have taken the exam in your country and failed, you need to tell them that. A better option is to not take the local exam. You will need to apply to a particular state in order to see if they consider your degree eligible to take NCLEX, as each state has different requirements.
If you have completed your course and have transcripts already, I'd just start the process now and find out, so that by the time you get your fiancee visa, you're already eligible to take the exam. Otherwise, you're going to have to wait for the results of the local exam, and hope there were no problems like the last one.

Just to clear up a few things for you. Florida does not have its own NCLEX, it is a national exam, that is what the N stands for. Once you have completed set of transcripts then you can submit for the CES thru CGFNS and that needs to be completed before Florida will give you permission to sit for the exam.
But also be aware that the CES will not be be issued until they have received passing grade on the NLE from the PRC.
Please take the time to read the Primer at the top of the International Forum it contains information that you will need to know.

"awwwwwww.... im confused....well maybe i read it wrong....cause it was stated in the article that an applicant may not have his/her RN license in order to take the nclex in orlando....as long as he/she passed the screening of cgfns CES...
the best thing wud be to make it with my NLE here....
then again if not, that may mean i could no longer use my degree once i get there....that's so sad just incase.....
so i wonder now why my classmate who is an american citizen (from florida state) ddi not take the NLE here...she flew back to florida after graduation and decide not to take licensure exam here...so that means her BSN degree would be useless since she doesnt have a license from PRC yet which u mention required by cgfns "CES"....
im really confused...but gonna search more and wait for reply's and comments...
thank you suzanne :) ...very well said...but makes me sad a little....
im taking my sample tests at the moment for dec2-3 exam... :)
wish me luck! heheh...thank you so much for ur tym :)
It's fine. You do not have to take the NLE, but if you do, then CGFNS will need to wait until they get a passing result in order to issue the CES report. You can then apply for the Florida license by examination.
The fact that you have to wait for the NLE result before getting the CES report is why it's advised that you don't wait to take the NLE.
