Hi my name is Denina and i am trying to get into the nursing program at the local community college. There is a 1 year waiting list but you have to pass a dosage calculations test. I took the test twice and I am ashamed to say I failed it both times. Now the reason that I failed is labeling. They won't let me review it and I honestly do not know what I did wrong. I have been a certified pharmacy technician for 5 years and I do those kind of problems every day at work. I don't know what I am doing wrong every time you do the test you have to do the practice test. I never ever missed a labeling question on the practice tests but when it comes to the test I don't know. And how am I supposed to know what I did wrong if I can't take a look at it. Can anybody think of something that could help me. I need to take the test( only three chances) again and I am so scared. I do not know anymore. I am not the kind of person the blames other people for my mistakes but I am beginning to think there is foul play involved as crazy as it sounds.:uhoh21:

i don't know what they mean by "labeling" either unless it has to do with your not putting the correct labels on the answers. medication calculation answers usually have a unit of measurement that goes along with the number you determine after performing the arithmetic. you might want to look at some of the problems that have been worked out in the dosage calculations thread on the nursing student assistance forum of allnurses. here is a link to it: https://allnurses.com/forums/f205/dosage-calculations-88867.html

i almost always work out questions of dosage calculations that are asked by dimensional analysis which is also called the factor/label method. you can find these posts by using the advanced search function (it's just below all those tabs at the top of the page) and input my screen name "daytonite" and use "dimensional" or "analysis" as the key words and then hit the search button. if you've done any factor/labeling, you must also factor out labels in numerators and denominators, but must carry through all labels that weren't factored out and include them in your answers. there is a big difference between 5 milligrams and 5 grams; one will be the right answer and one will be a dead patient.
