Disrespectful to instructor....

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

OK, It's been a while since I've taken a college course (I graduated over 10 yrs ago...)... but is it just me.... or are students much ruder to professors these days??? :uhoh21:

I CANNOT believe some of the things I am hearing (even on the first day) some people say in class about the teacher and even to him!! After our exam tonight (which was very reasonable) I overheard a woman say... "I hate him"... He was within ear shot and she did not try and whisper... She has caused a lot of problems... (correcting him on spelling errors...very sarcastic behavior...etc) She's just rude... and there are a lot of others like her.

I totally understand questioning the teacher when something doesn't seem right, but some of the stuff that goes on.

He so far has been very fair, handed out multiple outlines, notes, study guides, etc... It is Anatomy, so it is going to be hard, but I don't understand these people....

Anyone have any insight? Has it always been this way and I was just to dumb to notice??? :monkeydance:

I really feel kindof bad for him, because I can tell he really wants us to understand the stuff.... Geesh... give the guy a chance...

please respond with the manners some of say we lack and cut her a break.

:)

i'm responding to the remarks she placed on this message board which agreed 'just a little bit' with a chemistry instructor's assertion that american students are stupid, lazy, and victims of a greedy american education system. my manners are fine, thank you very much, and i don't see where comments like that deserve any sort of break, esl or not.

i'm not sure where the assumption began that americans should just take it on the chin when insulted. i'm proud of who i am and where i came from, and i'll be darned if i'm going to listen to someone who was raised elsewhere tell me how crappy my country is.

you can, but i refuse.

another thought: if the educational system in the united states is so horribly awful, why is kashia here receiving one?

My name is Kasia not Kaisha, wow you starting make grammar mistakes your self and you are american...Im not ESL, do you have any idea what you talking about, I suggest if you dont know the meaning of ESL dont use it, ESL is for people who just recently came to this country and learn simple things like My name is ...Im....years old..you telling me about my grammar but you cant even write my name correctly in my language, that is why I wrote statement in my previous post, if you only speak my language the way I speak your...and why are so suprise that some other person said that american do lack manners, yes they do, they are not perfect, all nations have their flaws...even my nation, I think you dont get the point of this discussion, have you ever been outside your BEST country, did you do some travels to compare it to other nation, and what is so great about this educational system, yes indeed it is great because it doesnt request hard work in high school, JUST BECAUSE MOTHER LET THEIR CHILDREN DO WHAT EVER THEY WONT,DOESNT NECESSARY MEANS SHE IS GREAT MOTHER, IT USUALLY MEANS SHE DONT CARE, the same with the teacher, usually the best ones are the one who make people work hard for their grades...

I think the above speaks for itself.

amen to that sister!

kasia...i'm not picking on you...i really and truly am not. coming to the usa is not necessary to learn english. i have a internet "pen pal" that i have corresponded with for at least 10 years...he is from germany...he has never been to an english speaking country...he knows our government system inside and out, speaks and writes better english than i do....perfect english, he even knows our silly cliches and can use them correctly. i have never been able to "stump" him.

i have to ask...i mean, have to ask...why your education isn't completed abroad if it's so much better there?

what you have written about esl or esol is false.

Are you lacking arguments?

To answer your question, Im here because my family is here, l love this country but Im not blindly in love with this country like you...Do you also lack arguments and you can only come up with very old and original one..If you dont like it then leave..cant you be more creative?

Kasia, you ask for respect from others and then insult me. I have no reason to lie to anyone, and have many of my own reasons to not apply to medical school. I don't believe I insulted you in my post, I was just trying to point out that not all Americans are poorly educated. I am going to close this thread now. I don't appreciate you calling me a liar.

What you have written about ESL or ESOL is False.

buahhaaahh have you ever took ESL classes...I dont think so dont teach an old dog new tricks please...

are you closing the thread because she called you a liar? that's pretty subjective don't you think?

i don't need to take an esol class because i teach them. do you need a registration form?

You are the ones who are very insulting, in my first post on this forum when i wrote for the advice, what do I get.. your grammar is that and that...you call this tolerance, I wish to some of you...that when one day you will be in another country someone will start laughing at you because you made couple stupid mistakes...

And why should I tell you, so you can tell me what state is this country in?
