Unfortunately I was unable to pass one of the final course exams for the Excelsior LPN to ADN program despite 3 attempts to do so. I was therefore dismissed from the program. I can not reapply for 2 years. I only had LS2 and the FCCA to complete so obviously a lot of time and money was put into the degree I am now unable to complete through Excelsior at this time. My question is, do I have any other options for completing my ADN using my credits obtained through Excelsior? I really would like to transfer the credits I did earn to another program so I can finish my degree. I also would prefer to not wait 2 years and re-enroll in Excelsior's program. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hello!
Typically nursing schools would only accept transfer of credits of general education classes. Core class credits do not transfer. The reason being is that if you are going to get a diploma from XYZ College, the core class credits must be from their program... not from ABC College.
Your quickest option would probably be to find another LPN-to-ADN bridge program and repeat the core classes. Or, do what you don't want to do which is wait out the 2 years to get another shot at Excelsior. Neither option is attractive, but it is your reality. Sorry.

Unfortunately it's not a two-year wait to reapply, it's five. From page 21 of the catalog: "Students enrolled in the associate degree in nursing program may take each nursing theory requirement up to three times. Failure of the requirement on the third attempt will lead to academic dismissal from the associate degree in nursing program. Withdrawn or prospective students who have failed a single nursing theory requirement three times will be denied admission to this program for at least five years."
I really hate to rub salt in the wound, but I want to make sure you have the proper information. I am so sorry that you weren't successful.
Other programs to consider:
An Online LPN to RN Program at Allegany College of Maryland
LPN to RN Online Bridge | Hutchinson Community College
LPN-BS track - BS | College of Health and Human Services

Just wondering........ Was taking the online course at excelsior rather then taking the Exam only option a possibility. That is one of the things I keep in the back of my mind as I am progressing through the tests at excelsior, is that if there is an exam i absolutely cannot pass, and have taken it twice already, switch over to the online class. I know it is 8 weeks, but maybe the format you needed to pass was the classroom(so to speak) aspect of it.
Just a thought.
