Nursing School and COVID-19
Our classes have gone online with the exception of testing which we still have to come onto campus for. The plan is to have us in a very large room and kept sitting 6 feet apart. As of right now our clinicals and precepting are still being held, even in the major local hospitals with confirmed COVID-19 cases. We (as a class) have mixed feelings about it, but mostly just want to get through to graduation in May.

Dismissed from Excelsior LPN to ADN program, options?
Unfortunately I was unable to pass one of the final course exams for the Excelsior LPN to ADN program despite 3 attempts to do so. I was therefore dismissed from the program. I can not reapply for 2 years. I only had LS2 and the FCCA to complete so obviously a lot of time and money was put into the degree I am now unable to complete through Excelsior at this time. My question is, do I have any other options for completing my ADN using my credits obtained through Excelsior? I really would like to transfer the credits I did earn to another program so I can finish my degree. I also would prefer to not wait 2 years and re-enroll in Excelsior's program. Any advice would be appreciated!

ECPI versus Wake Tech, DTCC, Wilson, or Barton
I am an LPN student at ECPI-Raleigh. Personally, I LOVE the program. It is expensive, but with grants and scholarships, my loan only ended up being about 10k, which isn't bad, especially since I didn't have to take any pre-req's or have to be on a waiting list. I took the placement test, passed and was accepted. I began classes 4 weeks later. Classes start every Feb. June and October. There are usually about 20-25 spots per class, so its pretty competitive. I will be graduating with honors in October 2006. This was a good option for me and my family, b/c I could get right in get my license and start working after one year. The instructors are great but the key is keeping up with your work. Our courses are only 5 weeks long, but we attend one class Mon-Fri for 3 days a week, the other two days are clinicals. We have great clinical sites at hospitals, clinics, and LTC. I've known students from each of the last three classes to graduate and they've all passed their NCLEX and gotten good jobs right after graduation, some even were hired at career fairs on campus before graduation. One agency offered a student 22/hr! Thats my 2 cents. Hope it helps!
