Discussion Hunter College Pre-Nursing + NLN-PAX RN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello, fellow prospective nursing students!

I see that there aren't many threads for Hunter pre-nursing students to discuss GPA and NLN scores, so I thought to start this one. From what I heard, current average scores are lower than the previous year's because this year was the launch of NLN's new pre-admission exam, containing 160 questions rather than the former 214 (I think it was).

Please post your thoughts and scores below. I'll post my stats if this thread catches on haha

I wish everybody lots of luck!

I got accepted to the Generic program too! I was kinda shocked because I didn't expected to get the email this early.

My GPA from Hunter is 4.0 (I already have the degree from my old college which is 3.46. So, I'm not sure how school calculated my GPA)

NLN Score is 137

Anyway, congratulations on everyone who got accepted. See you guys on the orientation day :D

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted!

For those that were not accepted, and still want to enter a nursing program, please feel free to message me and I will send you some information I received from a workshop about non-Hunter nursing opportunities. This information includes a powerpoint and a document of a list of different nursing programs in the NYC area.

If you have been admitted into the program, please be sure to join the Hunter Bellevue School of Nursing Class of 2020 group on facebook.

Hi

I'm currently working on my application for Hunters nursing program through nursingCAS and I was wondering if when you applied, did you just send your hunter official transcript or all your transcripts? I've contacted the programs advisor but I haven't gotten an answer.

Thank you

Hey Anthony,

I personally submitted all of my transcripts when applying on NursingCAS. What ever you input in your course history on NursingCAS, you should submit the official transcript of, and vice versa.

Let me know if you have anymore questions. Good luck!

May I ask what your gpa and nln score was? I'm applying to hunters accelersted program for fall 2018. Thank you!

I applied last year; here were my scores:

GPA: 3.85

NLN: 132 ~88th percentile

Feel free to ask more questions.

Thank you for sharing! Did you get in to the accelerated program? Do you know what the average scores were for your year?

I'm applying this year Fall 2018 and I scored 153 and have 3.83 gpa on bachelors and 3.78 on pre reqs which I still need to finish. I'm going to take micro and genetics at hunter this spring before the fall semester. Do you think i have a good chance? The advisor at the unfaession last summer stated that students on average had 3.8 gpa and 150-155 on scores... i feel like I'm just average if compared to those standards...

I don't have a lot of knowledge about the accelerated program, so I can't comment on that.

I would suggest that you attend a second information session for the accelerated program. During the second information session, you might hear along the lines of "this year students got lower/ higher grades than previous years", which will give you some feedback about your chances. Acceptance is very relative, and the cut-off is merciless, so I do stand by the advise of attending an extra info session to alleviate some anxiety.

Because acceptance is relative, you may want to ask other pre-accelerated students about their grades, or even start a discussion thread like this one for accelerated students.
