If hospitals are your thing, try community hospitals well outside of the city. You will probably have an easier time the farther out you get. So, instead of in Boston (almost impossible to find a job), work your way out as far as Concord (Emerson Hospital) 30+ min from Boston, Newburyport (Anna Jaques Hospital) 40 min from Boston, Cape Cod 1 hr from Boston, etc. I'm sure you will find more opportunities. Google "MA Hospitals" and you should be able to get a list of hospital websites. Just work your way through them and check all the websites for jobs. I like "simplyhired.com"...you can enter search radius, job, etc. and it will search all the classifieds, hospital websites, company websites, clinic websites, etc. and give you a list of openings. Personally, I'm working in a specialist office affiliated with several community hospitals about 45-50 min from Boston. Good luck.
For closer to Boston, look at Newton Wellesley, Faulkner Hospital (actually IN Boston [Jamaica Plain] but not in the center of the city and not a big name hospital), Carney Hospital (Dorchester), St. Elizabeth's (Brighton), Arbour Hospital (Allston), Norwood Hospital, Quincy Medical Center, Milton Hospital (now Beth Israel at Milton), Beth Israel Needham. I saw job listings at a lot of these hospitals when I was recently helping a friend. Are you living in the city?
Where have you applied and what is your background (job-wise and educationally)? The big hospitals in Boston demand a BSN and many of them are not hiring or are only hiring new grads (cheaper). There are also many home health agencies in the area that are hiring... several former colleagues work at one out of Needham now.
Hey guys, Thank you so much for all of the replies!
I am currently living in Stoughton and Commuting to Yale New Haven Hospital. I am currently an oncology nurse. I am in school to finish my BSN by May. I guess with the move I was excited to advance my nursing career in a big name hospital in the big city! I am going to look at all of the hospitals you have suggested. Thanks for your time :)
No BSN means that no Boston Hospital will look at your application until you finish in May, then you have a chance at the Big Name Hospitals. Two LTACs are in Stoughton, New England Sinai and Kindred Healthcare, although Steward Hospitals have said they would hire BSN only ( New England Sinai is owned by Steward).
In Stoughton, you're also very close to Milton, Quincy and Brockton- I'd look there. With oncology experience- Dana Farber runs a satellite at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. They also run one at Faulkner Hospital in JP. Ginger's Mom is correct, getting a job at a big name Boston hospital is virtually impossible without a BSN.

Hey Guys,
I just moved to the boston area in August because my husband is going to school at MCPHS. I have been a nurse for three years now and I am commuting to work in New Haven, CT to work full time! I have been searching for jobs up there but and having absolutely no luck! So tired of living out of a bag and not seeing my husband. Any advice?
