Can someone give me an idea of what a Director of Risk Management in a long term care facility would do? And salary average? I'm writing a comparison paper for a class and while I can find info. for hospital based RM I can't seem to find anything concrete for LTC RM. Thank you!

no idea, but I would google for that type of job (as if you were looking to be hired) and get some ranges.

As ADON, Risk Management falls on my shoulders- It is part of a package including staff development and much more.
Some of the things I do is:
Falls and Incidents Statistics (I break them up to hour, place, type etc), I make sure the forms are filled out correctly
Med Error statistics ( I check for a correlation to working extra shifts etc.) also broken up to type, hour, patient condition
Coordinate staff inservices to learn from the incidents etc.
Chart Auditing (youd be amazed at some of the things I read!)
As for salary I cant help you there,.
Good luck!

safety safety safety is the first word that pops in my mind :) some people from risk management came to my facility recently and did an inservice on the safe use of the lifts. they also research falls... probably staff safety too...
