Thanks for all of your responses to all of my previous posts. As you probably assume, I'm evaluating all of my options including ADN, BSN, and Direct-Entry MSN. The direct entry programs look extremely appealing, but seeing that they are at the best of colleges, I don't know how easy they are to get in.
Does anyone know what the typical GPA, scores, acceptance rates of these programs are? Anyone have any experience applying?
I'm in MD, so I'd consider Hopkins, but Columbia, MGHI in Mass, Case Western, Vanderbilt, Pace, and Yale also look appealing.
Seeing as nursing traditionally isn't an "ivy league" profession, are the credentials required for these programs less than what a typical "ivy" student would need?
I'd love to hear experiences with any programs.........
Thanks for the update. I am at work probably until at least 6:30. I will see when I get home. I shovelled an extra good path for the mailman too.
Maybe you mentioned it before, but how far from boston do u live?
Thanks Jen and maxwell! It totally doesn't seem real. The letter was postmarked yesterday- so it's likely your letters are waiting at home for you as well! I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed for all of you still waiting for letters! I guess I'm technically still waiting too- I haven't heard from BC yet- but I kind of don't care as much what happens with that now that I have two acceptance letters, you know?:roll

Congrats Jess!
I haven't heard from MGH yet, but I was wondering if you all know how MGH compares to Simmons. I didn't get into Simmons, so I'm wondering about my MGH chances. My grades are around 3.4, Gre's 1200+, volunteered at hospitals, almost done with prereqs.... do I have have a chance or am I out of my league?
Thanks for advice anyone, and again, great job Jess!

Thanks Diana!
I didn't apply to SImmons, so I don't know if I would have gotten in there. But my stats sound similar to yours. GPA: 3.5 undergrad, A s in prereq classes, Gres Q+V=1290 AW=6, I volunteered in a hospital, business background before my kids were born. I think you have an excellent shot. Don't lose hope!

Diana - I agree w/ Jess. My stats are very similar (3.5GPA, GRE = ~1200, hospital volunteer, business degree). I think that it's impossible to tell exactly what the different schools are looking for though. I got into Simmons (still waiting on MGH too) and it sounds like we are pretty comparable candidates ... so who really knows Hang in there though ... I'm sure you'll have better news from MGH !!!

Jen makes a great point too- that different schools value different things. Was it Elizabells who got into Columbia and didn't get into Penn or UCSF? They are all comparable schools and highly competitive- so you would think if you get in one you will get in the others- but each program has their own metrics of what they think is important. Hang in there- I'm sure you will get good news from *at least* one of your schools.

I called my hubby at work to tell him and he was like- "we have to celebrate... let's put the kids to bed early and we can all get an extra hour of sleep!" Sad- but with two little kids sleep is a precious thing! I think we will have to go out to dinner this weekend or something! :roll

Thanks.I live in Newton so I should see something when i get home from work.
Yeah, I would think so! I laughed at your earlier post about shoveling a good path for the mailman. This morning I made my huband be extra sure there was a wide safe path from the street to the mailbox!! After waiting all this time I didn't want there to be any snow delays!
