  1. Great news mummer! I;m starting soon too and between freaking out and stressing over giving up my income, Im excited too. hope that A&P is going well!
  2. I saw a T-shirt logo this weekend that read "we're not happy until you're not happy". That sums up my siblings - so despite my strong desires to have a family- my parents are both gone- I cant go one with their crazy BS. Sometimes you gotta know when t let go and find your own peace.
  3. All I can so is go for it. I am 43 and starting an entry level MSN in september. I often ask myself am i too old to do this, but I realize I am too young not to. Life is a gift, and what we do with it is our choice. The whole "male nurse" thing freaked me out at first, but if I can spend one day doing something more meaningful than the crap I do at my current job all day, then I will realize the decision I made is not stupid. What is stupid is continue doing somethin you dont enjoy. Anyway, good luck on your application.
  4. tell umass that while they are a strong option, you've decided to put them on your waiting list!
  5. I also thought about rad tech becuase it seemed like a quicker entry into health care, but for me it felt like i would be limited in patient care and any decision making, so i chose entry level np program. I think nursing will allow you alot more opportunities but thats just my opinion.
  6. Kris:Thats great for you to get accepted! Did they email you or write you a letter? I know someone else who is waiting to hear. When do u have to repsond by?
  7. how are all the boston people doing on their decisions?
  8. I am not sure how they calculate those rankings, but for they also rate hospitals on different specialties, including geriatric where MGH ranked 5th. Obviously I am partial to MGH since I only applied there but I hope I get clinicals at MGH. http://www.usnews.com/usnews/health/hosptl/rankings/specihqgeri.htm
  9. I am glad you are ok. It is freezing here in Boston and there are no signs of birds. I hope everything works out for the best.
  10. I sent my money in. :) What are the deadlines you have for BC and Regis? How much $$ do they want for a deposit?
  11. Is he going to go to Regis? What are u leaning towards now?
  12. The MSN entry program is not all female.
  13. Hopefully you will get some good news on Monday.
  14. Not having any children, I wasnt going to comment on this thread, but you and your husband obviously know what is best for you, your kids and your family. You are lucky to have support of your husband and mother. I havent told anyone in my family other than my sister becuase I am sure my brothers will give me a feast of SH*& about this. Telling me how crazy I am, how i make good money now, why would I want to be broke for the next 3 years. I am sure I will hear some idiotic comments about men in nursing as well.
  15. Good luck! I hope you get soem good news
