Direct Entry MSN 2020 at Columbia University

Updated:   Published

Hello Everyone, The applications for June 2020 at Columbia University has now opened. I haven't seen any new threads for this year so I wanted to start one. I am in the process of applying and half way done! References already sent their recommendations!! and an upside to this year is that Columbia University is no longer requiring the GRE. SO I am pretty happy about that!!

Good Luck!

Tuition for the whole mde program is around 115-120k

But the total estimated costs? I found a breakdown of the first year but not the second Summer

Does anyone happen to have the full cost of the DNP years? I’m not sure I ever saw that online and the focus of the admitted students day seemed to be the mde program. Thanks!

If you’re asking about everything, including cost of living, then it really depends on what your budget is for rent and other living expenses. But each term is about 28-30k for tuition and there is a total of 4 terms. I would say add an extra 35-40k, for the 4th term, on top of their estimated cost for 1 yr. so if they estimate 138k for 1 yr, for everything, then it’ll be probably around 170k for the whole program, including tuition, fees, living expenses etc..

Hi! Has anyone on the waitlist heard anything yet or am I just getting my hopes up?

Hello future pnp18,

no I don’t think you’re getting your hopes up. Just be a bit more patient. How far on the list are you were you told what number you were??

I know of people who have paid their deposit to secure their spots but if another school in their state accepts them then their plan is to forego the deposit they paid with Columbia. So keep your ? crossed.

Best of luck!

I’m not sure if you’ll be hearing back in the next couple weeks or not. Much of the campus is shut down due to COVID-19.

Myself and someone else have called Columbus repeatedly a woman told us both that we would be hearing back by March 16. This was last week.

Have any committed students received more info on the student portal and next steps? Would like to start sending transcripts asap!

No I haven’t received anything else other than the email of when we were informed about vaccinations, student campus housing, and joining the facebook group for accepted students, amongst whatever else was listed in that particular email. I believe it was back in February that the email was distributed. But I’m assuming that the school is waiting until it’s official, as far as who is definitely attending vs. whose not, re: submitting transcripts. Also like others have stated on here, today and tomorrow the school had announced its doors would be closed so I’m sure they’re busy prepping for the online classes they plan to teach remotely for their current students throughout all campuses.

Are there any current or previous students who could share what their schedule looked like during the first Summer semester? I'm trying to think ahead a bit and have the rough schedule provided on the slide deck during the Accepted Students event but wondering if others could share a more detailed look (maybe even approx. how many hours each night they were studying, etc.,?) Thank you very much in advance to anyone who can share.

Hope everyone is hanging in there and staying healthy during this stressful time! My hands and iPhone have never been so clean ?
