Direct entry and graduate entry programs II

Hello all,

Its been mentioned before about ending our thread and starting a new one. Think it was tried a few months ago.

Maybe it is time now, seeing as the thread is 72 pages long. That is sort of hard for a new reader to sift through to see where we are now, don't you agree?

Gen

p.s. still waiting for my interview information! agh

Oh Smile!!

Good luck, relax, sleep, (if you can) hydrate, eat, pack some nourishment, your mind must be going a mile a minute and your body is probably running on high energy.

Hydrate, eat, try to rest, (I know, probably not possible!) repeating...

Good luck!!! Try to check in with us if you can while you travel, okay? Post a note from the highways and byways so we can encourage you.

Have you driven cross country before? I am sure you will do great!

:)

Gen

Thanks Gen! I have never driven across the country, so it's another adventure in the making! I have some books on tape and music to keep me company and a cooler of snacks and drinks. :wink2:

I hope those Motel 6's have internet access! :D I do want to check in with you guys while I'm travelling on highway 80 and then highway 70; I don't know people along the way, so I'll be by myself. I'm normally an extrovert, so travelling alone for a week will be a growth experience I'm sure! :specs: :p

You guys have been a great support group! :thankya:

This will be exiting! Please do check in! That place that leaves the light on for ya is supposed to have internet.

Remember to shift yourself in the car, and to take breaks, (even if five minutes, to stretch is good and help your feet feel better...do you have cruise control? It is your friend!)

As a side note this morning I am still waiting to hear from UIC but, am curious if the email I got from FAFSA this morning ,(from yesterday) is good news.

I filled out my FAFSA application in February and then got a letter from UIC stating something and when I called Financial Aid at UIC I was told that it would be held until I was 'officially accepted'.

Yesterday FAFSA said that an agency updated my processing. I checked it out and sure enough my financial aid had a processing change.

First I thought that maybe my current school reported that I graduated but, final grades aren't released until today.

Then I thought, gosh, this could be either way, may UIC reported that I did or did not get in.

Aaargh, the wait.

Second plans are all on hold until I know for certain. :)

Gen

p.s. Courtney, how are you holding up?

Hey Laura, Mission, any other Columbia kids -

Any of you have an MMR hold? I sent all my stuff in, but the health services put a hold on my status and I keep leaving messages and they're not calling me back.

13 days, ladies and gents. Anyone else stopped sleeping?

Hi,

Good luck! Regarding your MMR, maybe call and ask your doc or nurse to send it by fax, or maybe get a copy for yourself and bring it with you. :)

Super good luck!

p.s. no news yet from UIC today, sigh, the wait.......

Nobody has told me anything about a hold so I'm assuming my stuff made it ok. I faxed it in a few days past the deadline so I hope it's all there and they aren't too mad at me. I don't know when you call them but I've found that anywhere near lunch hour and they aren't there. Maybe fax a second copy of your titers and see if they respond.

Man I am hardly sleeping I'm about 10% nervous/90% excited to finally go and do this.

I do, but I know it's because I sent my paper work in late. I wouldn't worry about it but bring an additional copy of your immunization records with you to orientation just in case.

Sleep, who can sleep? I still have to take my A&PII final :uhoh3:

When do you arrive in New York?

Laura, have you checked your .edu email? That's where I found out about mine. That's also where they're sending bill notifications.

I'm coming in Sat the 28, moving into my lovely dorm room on Sunday. We should all try to hook up and have coffee or something after the first day of orientation. I think we're off at 3 or 4. Or even sometime before that, if you guys want.

See you ladies in . . . 12 days. Help meeeeeee.

Well, I already moved into my apartment so I'll be free most of the weekend. If you guys want a tour of the area or need to know how to get to Target or the grocery store, let me know, I'll be happy to help.

Hi there,

Okay, well time to try wholeheartedly for two other programs. :/

Here is the response from the GEP coordinator that I got today by email.

--

I am sorry for the delay in the GEP decisions. Letters were mailed out yesterday. I am sorry to inform you that you were not selected for admission to the program. As you know it was very competitive and they were very difficulty choices.

We wish you the best in your nursing education.

--

Okay plans two and three, on the floor!!

Gen

p.s. thanks for being here guys...this forum helps tremendously

Gen, I'm really sorry to hear you didn't get accepted:o At least the waiting is over.

I'm doing the happy dance because I did get in, but I think the odds were much more in my favor in my specialty. 2/40 is pretty rough!

Best of luck in the other two programs. I know DePaul also has a great reputation, and I'm sure you're more than qualified. And you now have this interview/application process under your belt. Also, you have ADN program already too right? Sounds like you are set up for success.

Just stopping in to send hugs your way, Gen.

If you need to talk or anything else, I'm here for ya.

I didn't get to read all 70+ pages of the other thread, but have you considered Rush? Their grad school is very highly ranked, and seems to have more openings available.
