Direct entry and graduate entry programs II

Hello all,

Its been mentioned before about ending our thread and starting a new one. Think it was tried a few months ago.

Maybe it is time now, seeing as the thread is 72 pages long. That is sort of hard for a new reader to sift through to see where we are now, don't you agree?

Thanks too Courtney. I will have to take another route. Good luck again!

:icon_hug: Gen. Something'll come. I've heard good things about DePaul as well.

Mission, we should totally try to get together sometime before school. And yes, the location of stuff will be on my list of eight thousand facts to know!!! Just finished all the math. Phew!

Hi there,

Okay, well time to try wholeheartedly for two other programs. :/

Here is the response from the GEP coordinator that I got today by email.

I am sorry for the delay in the GEP decisions. Letters were mailed out yesterday. I am sorry to inform you that you were not selected for admission to the program. As you know it was very competitive and they were very difficulty choices.

We wish you the best in your nursing education.

Okay plans two and three, on the floor!!

Gen

p.s. thanks for being here guys...this forum helps tremendously

Gen,

I'm sorry to hear about the GEP decision. Those were very tough odds - something like 2 in 40 accepted for your focal area? I hold lots of karmic energy for the other 2 schools. You will make it in one of the other programs! You could also ask if they have a waiting list and what are the odds.

Oh Gen :crying2: I'm so sorry. You are so smart and qualified and will make such an awesome nurse. On to the backup plans (which look pretty darn good, if you ask me!). We're here for you.

I'm doing the happy dance because I did get in, but I think the odds were much more in my favor in my specialty. 2/40 is pretty rough!

Courtney- Way to go- congrats on your acceptance!

oops, I forgot my password to the .edu email and haven't been able to check it. Apparently you need to go in person with photo id in order to reset your password. I hope no bills are due before I arrive. I am actually flying in on the 26th and moving in on friday. I can't wait to meet you guys!

Oh dear. They sent me a bill at that email. You might want to call Student Services, try to make sure you don't owe them any money! See you in a week!

So sorry to hear the dissappointing news. Good luck with plans 2 and 3!

Smile, Jess and Elizabells,

You guys are really great, thanks!

I emailed the GEP coordinator at UIC with my final transcripts that just came in yesterday, (made a 3.65 gpa on final 52 hours, UIC takes the final 60 which was 3.5, including all the pre-reqs). The coordinator said it was too late, that I couldn't resubmit to another specialty by June 1st because they were all full and waitlisted. Ouch, didn't make the lists either. Okay, plans two and three.

I spoke with DePaul and said I applied before the fall cutoff but didn't complete my packet and have one pre-req to complete this summer and just completed my BA. I asked if there was any chance on this great green Earth that I could still be accepted for the fall class.

The coordinator said that they were making decisions now, but, to get it in anyhow...He was very kind. I told him I would order my transcripts ASAP from my previous schools and try to take them up to him next Friday.

That is plan two, plan three is Rush University Accelerated BSN and Plan four is the ADN that I am already registered for in the fall.

Thank you guys for being here. I was pretty bummed and felt all rejected and all....Hmph.

Now its in perspective! :)

Hey! I was realizing the other day that you all are probably ready not only for another thread but, another thread in the actual "Student Nurses' section!!

Hope to join you there soon!

:)

Hey Gen,

Look at it this way. Atleast you are in a program. I know it's not the ideal one for you, but you never know with the others. Someone could say no and your name could pop to the head of the list. I am rooting for you!

The movers came today; it was so hectic! :uhoh3: I was not completely ready and I felt frazzled. They are coming back tomorrow to do the last load. I'll be glad to be on the road Sunday.... (Did I mention I still have 5 chapters of Calculation with Confidence to read before the I get there? Well, I'll have more time in the evenings as I'm travelling across the country. I'll look for "internet access" at cheap motels and time in with you guys! Thanks for all your support!!! :p :loveya:

Smile123

Try stopping at Panera Bread Company cafes on the way. They have FREE WIFI access.

Thanks. I'll be driving on highway 80 and 70, so hopefully they are on the route.

Hi Smile,

Thanks! DePaul asked me to hurry and finish the fine details of my application packet at they are making their final decisions May 27th, (I think.) Since I applied before the deadline there is a slim chance they will consider me for the FALL start rather than the Winter (Jan) start!

Although you are very correct, my seat is indeed safe at my super back up. :)

Okay, now back to you! Please do stay in the pre-nurse forum for a while longer, (if I can even ask) so we can all check in with you while you attemp to read those five chapters while -not-driving. :)

Good luck!

Gen

p.s. we are rooting for you too!! :)
