I was in shock this morning, I didn't expect to get in and had already paid tuition, bought books etc for State, but I'd be stupid to pass up this opportunity. It's been such a rollercoaster.

Thanks Elizabells! You'll do great at Columbia, I would be so proud to go there too! That's an incredible accomplishment.

I just read your post about your boyfriend and my heart goes out to you. Breakups are sooooo painful. It's so common for loved ones to go crazy when we make major changes in our lives. I'm older, and I've experienced the same thing whenever I've done something to change my self.

Looking back, I realize that things worked out for the best. I lost some relationships that would have stifled me, while my other relationships adjusted and grew.

The process hurts, but I know things will work out for you the way they are meant to. Either your boyfriend will adjust and grow with you, or you will be open to someone in the future will encourage and be supportive of you like you deserve.

Boyfriend update: we just talked, and agreed to try to meet in the middle a little bit, so I'm going to go over tomorrow night (after my super-fancy goodbye dinner, to which he had been invited, but now he ain't comin'. Do not risk the wrath of Eliza!) and we're going to make some decisions and set boundaries. Thank you for all your support, guys. No matter how many breakups you go through, it almost always feels like the end of the world. I'm glad you all get the pressure we're under, in these, our final weeks of freedom.

I'd say go to UCSF - unless you really think you'd like Psych a lot better. Choice of specialty is about the only thing I'd let keep me away from UCSF, but I'm a little impulsive. Just my 0.02! Listen to the practical ones first!!!

I'm glad you guys are at least talking and setting up expectations. You may find that either one of you will "outgrow" the other after being apart while you go through your experience at Columbia. I actually had that happen when I was at Berkeley going to school and my tennis pro boyfriend was down in Mtn View. He couldn't understand why I couldn't come down every weekend to be with him when I had midterms, papers, and finals. We just grew apart... I'm hoping for the best outcome for you!

P.S. I'm now in Grand Island, Nebraska (between Cheyenne, Wyoming and Des Moines, IA). I covered another 800 miles today - no bat mobile here! It's because I'm driving 12 hours a day. Some of the roads have speed limits of 75 mph which balance out from the one lane open construction speeds of 20 mph... Internet access is now 19.2 Kbps (how S L O W can you get....)

Hi again everyone, I recently contacted the uni of Pheonix (probably spelt wrong sorry hahaha) to see if there was any programs/courses that I could do online with them to help complete my last year of Bachelor of Nursing and I was faced with total confusion. The guy called me to see what they could help me with and as I proceeded to explain my situation he stopped me and told me there was nothing he could do for me at that school. Is it true that over here in America, you have to be an RN already to do your Bachelors? This is what everyone has been telling me so far. I am usually a chef by trade but have so far completed 2 years of a 3 year Australian nursing degree (bachelor of nursing) and figured that it would be the same over here. I am engaged to be married sometime around August/Sept and was hoping to at least be able to do some of the courses I need to complete for my last year online. Does anyone know what subjects need to be done in the last year of the bachelors degree?? If so, any advice on how I can get on with it (at least some of them) for now would be much appreciated. The reason Im not going to fulltime uni yet is because it will cost me over $15,000 to complete just ONE year of this degree opposed to $3000 when Im a resident here. I have all my transcripts with me so I am able to transfer the credits over to USA uni. What type of subjects are needed to be completed in the degree here? Last year mainly. In Australia it is only a 3 year degree but apparently here it takes 4 years. I am interested in knowing what the different subjects are here opposed to there if someone would be so kind as to let me know. Far out Im rambling on here HEY!!!! This is not true for all types of RN degrees cazhumb.

The only time you need to have an RN is if you are attempting to go to a school that does not offer RN but does offer RN-BSN or RN-MSN completions programs.

There are also degrees for which you could attempt without the RN, some of which are:

BA/BS to BSN

BA/BS to MSN

AD to ADN

Get it? Now, you are armed to weed out the schools that don't offer what YOU are looking for.

I'd just make very sure that whatever credits you've already taken will transfer, which is something you'd need to clear with each individual school. Good luck!

Okay,

Here I go again! :) I drop off the completed packet today. Well, the packet isn't completely complete because some of my official transcripts aren't here yet, but, DePaul gave me permission to temporarily use unofficial transcripts so, those are all in.

My fingers are crossed that this one sticks. If not, there is one more plan before ceding to the ADN, (really want to open up that seat to a hopeful wait-listed Associate student!)

I do not know when there true final decisions come out but, I heard that they were being made...today...?
