I am a seasoned diploma RN LTC/acute care...and would like to know what is a good online course for BSN to take...and how much does it usually cost? if you have high credit card bills would that prevent you from getting government assist for a program? Been a long time since I did this...... Thanks

I just finished UTA's RN-BSN online. The cost of the courses are about $10K, but that's not including prereqs. If you're missing prereqs, 3 hours ones are $504 and 4 hour ones are $672 each. Plus books. I went used for most of mine and my most expensive book was about $100. I sold my books back through amazon and recouped about 2/3rds of my book money that way.

No idea about student loans. My employer did tuition reimbursement.

Try wgu.edu - all the prereqs are included in the flat fee/6 months of $3250 or so and if you have a ton of spare time, you can take as many as you can fit in. :)

thanks for your help .....havent done this in quite some time...dont know if I would be accepted due to high credit card bills....I would try to apply for grants and gov . assistance if I do make the leap......but I think this is my only way out of a big stagnant job hole right now.

if you use fed loans (Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid), they don't do a credit check. if you need private loans, they will. I've not heard of schools doing credit checks, but we did need to pass a background check. Inquire at the school as to their policies

Thank you for your help on the credit check for FAFSA...I just got my pin on that recently but didnt apply for anything yet.....thats great to know...

Penn State has an online program through their world campus. It's costing me approx 14k for 10 courses - your number of courses will vary depending on how many additional courses you need (I had to take public speaking and statistics). I like it so far and I know a number of nurses who graduated from there and thought it was an excellent program. Here's the site if you're interested http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/

Good luck!
