I was told that certain drugs you don't dilute with NS and lasix is one of them because it effects how they work on the body, ie they are not as effective.

We were told that too - so if we need to dilute a small dose, we use vials of sterile water instead, as does pharmacy. We make it 1mg/ml if we're diluting.
Pharmacy told me it doesn't matter an long as you don't push any faster than 10mg per minute. I never dilute either, unless, for times sake, I'll put 80mg in a 25c PB. The largest does I've ever had to give was 160 mg.
I don't understand not mixing lasix with NS, we have lasix/diurel drips mixed in a 100CC NS bag, all the time.
I was wondering, to ensure you push meds slowly, does anyone push on a high port and turn down the rate of infusion of the maintenance IV? That is what I do.
I do not. I give it in the closest port, and if I have NS running, I have it going wide open. I just push the med in increments over whatever time is required.

I've never diluted Lasix, either. And I work in NICU, where everything seems to need dilution because of the fragile babies' veins. We just give the 10mg/ml injection straight up, slow IV push (1mg/kg/dose). The only time we'll dilute it is if the dose is less than 1mg, but that's only for accuracy since those doses would be
