Hi! This is my first post and I was hoping to get some enlightenment from you guys.
I had just been recently married & was issued with a VS certificate prior to marriage. My surname is now Dublin, but my certificate reflects Filart (maiden surname). My US employer asks that I refurbish them with a new set of documents reflecting my new surname including the Visa Screen to avoid any conflict in processing the immigrant papers. Is this even possible? More importantly, is it necessary in such case? I am a bit stumped because in the case of my IELTS results, IDP made it clear that they can not resend the results with the married name; my marriage docs would just have to be presented at the Embassy. I was wondering if this is the same case with the Visa Screen. My employer seems to be as clueless as I am.
I have mailed CGFNS my marriage certificate along with the request but all I received was an email confirming receipt and a rather vague answer. Here:
"Your change of name request was processed. Please confirm that the name we have online for you is correct.
You can purchase only one VisaScreen Replacement Certificate and the fee is $150.00 USD. Please remember you can purchase Additional CGFNS Service VisaScreen Replacement Certificate online at the CGFNS web site, http://www.cgfns.org. (I noticed that you have a user id and password.) This option is available to provide applicants with faster updates and with 24 hour service."
Does this mean that they do resend new certificates the changed name after marriage? Has anyone of you had the same dilemma?
Thank you and hoping for your replies.

Your employer does not need new documents. All they need to provide to USCIS are your documents plus marriage certificate.

Many people get married after they have VSC issued and don't change name, As long as you have enough things to identify your maiden name like old passport or even marriage certificate that indicates maiden name then I can't see there being a problem with paperwork and VSC in maiden name

Ghillbert and Silverdragon 102,
Thank you very much for the informative posts. I'm a bit relieved now. It's good to have this discussions with people who know. I'll be sure to inform my employer about this.
God bless.
