different nursing position? can anyone differentiate one from another?

hi Guys,

Its me again, just want to ask you something bout the difference of the following position; assistant nurse, health care assistant, nursing aid and care giver?

thanks for your responses

Specializes in ICU, M/S,Nurse Supervisor, CNS.

I think they are all pretty similar. Often the job title changes per the preference of the facility. Nursing assistants are certified (at least here in VA) after going to classes and take a state test. My employer uses the term nursing care partners which are basically CNA's with additional training to do things like phlebotomy, foley insertion, d/c IV's, and do EKGs. From my experience, health aides have less training and just do the most basic of care such as baths, ambulating, feeding, etc.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Ortho, ASC.

None are nurses. All fall into the same category of unlicensed assistive personnel, generally working in an LTC or hospital setting.

thnx for the reply, is what you mentioned applicable to any country? im a registered nurse here in the philippines with different nursing exp, clinic nurse(1 yr and 5mos), hospital nurse(2mos), volunteer hospital nurse(1month), industrial nurse(5mos and going up), and was qualified to work in singapore not as a staff nurse but as an assistant nurse. this is due to the reason that i only have 2 yrs which is qualified for the assistant nurse position, for a staff nurse they require 3 yrs working exp. do you think grabbing the opportunity is a good decision?
