Did you wait long?

I was told that some people wait for 1-3 years to get into a nursing program. A friend of mine was admitted 3 years after she applied. How long did you wait?

Where I live (Ontario Canada), the colleges have a ranking system, usually based on grades with some factoring in other things. If you don't get in the first year, then you re-apply for the next year and the process starts all over again. I applied to get in for 2009 but didn't get in. For this fall, I had my application in almost as soon as the applications were being accepted. Of the 5 I applied to, I wasn't competitive enoughh for one, received wait list offers from 3 and an actual acceptance from the 5th. It can take a while, but being dedicated is certainly a huge help.

Specializes in LTC, hospice, home health.

I finished my pre-reqs in May, applied for the programin early June, took the TEAS the following week, and was notified in late June that I was accepted for the term beginning in August.

I applied for the advanced placement program and for the 12-LVN-grant that the school recently received. I was accepted to both, but decided to start at square one so that I don't miss anything that will cripple me down the road.

I am absolutely sure that 1) I was/am blessed big time, and 2) it has everything to do with the fact that I'm an LVN.

I'm excited, but really nervous.

Specializes in Infusion.

2-1/2 months. We have a point system that counts grades in A&P, Psych, micro and nutrition and then general points for passing some general ed and a tech writing class. Plus, there are 6 essay questions worth another 16 points. No wait list. I would not want to be part of a lottery based entry program.

Specializes in NICU Level III.

I got in the first time I applied.
