I don't know if any of you are familiar with the TEAS test. Some nursing schools make you take this exam before being accepted into their school. I went to the official TEAS websight and ordered the official TEAS study manual and studied that book word for word for THREE MONTHS!!! Then I get the test and most of it has nothing to do with the book!! I think I did good on everything but the science. Most of it was chemistry on the test and the questions they were asking were not in the study manual or online. And the MATH!! I understood all of the questions, even though the questions were asked different than those on the study manual and online, but they only give you 60 min to answer 50 questions!!! That was not enough time to write and figure out all of the questions, so I just guessed the most logical ones. I am so discouraged right now, I feel like that damn book was a ripoff!!!! I'll find out my score on Thursday......

The same thing happened to me.
Even though the test was timed, I still would finish my answers even when the time was up.

I'm sure you did fine. What do you want to get on it?
I looked over the manual for like 10 minutes before taking the test and got a 91...but the lady told me I should aim higher if I wanted to get into a program..Luckily we can take it as many times as we want! :)

Wow.. we found out our score before we left the test. That sucks that you have to wait. Have you tried logging onto the ati site to see your score? Mine still shows there.

I also felt like the manual was a total ripoff. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone. I also think the ATI exams we've taken during NS are a joke. I've never studied for a single one & I've only had to remediate one.
Well, in the manual it says that this test can only be taken once a year so if I fail it, then I have to wait to take it. I don't know even why you need a test like this. You need a 40 on the math and science and a 70 on the reading and english. I don't know if that means like 40% out of 100%, I don't know how they are going to figure it. Maybe I am just being hard on myself, my other friend is like obsessing over it, she keeps checking the ATI site, still no answer though. The thing that sucks id that the school is in MASS. and they take priority over MASS residents, we are from RI so there is a chance that we could pass the test and still not get in.
I took this August '07 and I don't remember the exact details of how it works, but I remember that it was the 40th percentile (meaning you have to finish in the top 40% of the people that have taken it) not 40% like you usually think of for a test. That makes it easier, imo.
You can't take it for another year? Are you sure? That doesn't sound right to me. I'd double check that with the school. I could be wrong, but I don't remember the rules being like that.
My school just started doing this test the semester before I got in. They said the reasoning behind it was that there were so many people having a tough time in the program, they thought this would help. Ummm.. ok.

At my school we could take the TEAS 3 x's in 2 years.
All the ATI exams are graded by percentiles. It's not so much about the # of right and wrong as it is a matter of scoring higher than a certain number of students across the nation.
For example, to pass you might need to be above the 60th percentile, but that could mean scoring an 80% or a 30%. It all depends on what everyone else is scoring.
Well, I passed the test!! I did really well too, I guess I am smarter than I thought. Now I have to have an interview and write an essay.

What is a TEAS exam? We took ATI during nursing school but they are pointless, so don't pay attention to them. I don't think they can be studied for (besides what you've already done for that specific class). I think the ATI is nothing more than a predictor test and used to compare your class to the rest of the nation. I failed a couple of them, but passed the NCLEX with flying colors in about 35 minutes. You are going to do great!
