I couldn't believe some of what I was reading because now its 2016 and after a year experience of home health trach care suctioning insertion gtube care feeding insertion respiratory treatments colostomy care medication administration, Bilingual in Spanish I'm only being offered $19hr at two LTC facilities and psych place in the inland empire. I read in LA the pay is higher idk.
I started doing home health 2014 asba nrw LVN new grad at $15 in LA area not I.E. which starts between $17-19 but now make $20 in hime health with a different agency out here..
What happened to our pay? Makes me wonder if some of those people were saying the truth I'm sure they were but why did the pay drop so low and incidentally some snf's want you to clock out to chart which i know is illegal but it's still being done which is why i resigned after a few weeks.
Thks

Wow that sucks, I have been seriously considering moving out there. I'm an LPN in Denver metro area and my first job in 2014 was 19.75 an hour, I've since worked at a couple other LTC facilities and right now am making $23 an hour with $1 differential for evening shift and 1.50 differential for nights. Which I did not even think was that much, I have a family member who was a LPN as well (no longer is) but worked LTC and made $25.50 an hour with three years experience, she eventually switched to night shift and got a 1.50 differential. So basically was consistently making $27 an hour, and this was in 2008. She was a fantastic nurse but since I've became an LPN the highest I've heard any of my co-workers making was $26.00, and she had like 15 years experience and also did the nursing schedules, so I don't know if it has gone down or what.

I know in my area (NJ), there has been a decrease in pay in the past years.
Bernie someone today told me there were big medicare or medical cuts a few yrs ago and because all the fraud that was going on so that affected lvn pay substantially in home health and LTC especially.

What happened to our pay?
Back in 2004, the year that old post was written, there was actually a nursing shortage. Pay was higher because employers had to pay more to attract LVNs. Now that there are so many LVNs in your local job market, employers can get away with paying lowball wages. After all, if you don't accept what they're offering, 100+ LVNs will take the job with no questions asked.

That sucks. RN with bachelors degree here in east coast. Making $30+. Further your education.
