  1. The ACA was a nightmare for me due to pre existing health issues so I paid the tax penalties for the first two years. Having insurance through my job with the outrageous deductions made it practically impossible to see a doctor and now 7 yrs later my condition got worse. A nurse told me her brother died because he couldn't afford the outrageous medical cost. Unless you have good healthcare insurance through your job you were one of the ones paying high amounts of money each month to pay for thisetwho weren't working and due to my pre existing condition it was too expensive so I was like it's not fair if someone doesn't work, they get section 8 rent, food ebt and welfare, health care handed to them. Even people who weren't born and are not green card holders get to have free healthcare if they visit an emergency room and I don't need to explain the free millions of dollars many undocumented people get through home health due to their special need children formula, diapers, chucks, DME, wheelchairs, supplies, trach gtube vent machines, millions of dollars a year but here I am an American citizen, an LVN is being charged hundreds of dollars a month for my healthcare and the deductions our outrageous. Mind you prior to the ACA I never had insurance issues with any of my jobs prior to nursing and can't comment on what home health and other non hospital jobs insurance were like prior to the ACA. ACA helped some people but it was a disaster to many hard working people. I pay my own rent, food etc and as a new nurse although I can easily get home health jobs most don't offer good health care benefits so it was better to not work and get my serious medical condition fixed first sadly.
  2. Not true, their clinicals are doable for the working student plus no school has clinicals that will fit every student work schedule if you know of a school like this let me know lol Cost is low The program length depends on you.
  3. Bernie someone today told me there were big medicare or medical cuts a few yrs ago and because all the fraud that was going on so that affected lvn pay substantially in home health and LTC especially.
  4. I was reading this old post titled : California lvn pay scale by ldshaw Mar 9, '04 | 114,986 Views | 45 Comments Topic Closed I couldn't believe some of what I was reading because now its 2016 and after a year experience of home health trach care suctioning insertion gtube care feeding insertion respiratory treatments colostomy care medication administration, Bilingual in Spanish I'm only being offered $19hr at two LTC facilities and psych place in the inland empire. I read in LA the pay is higher idk. I started doing home health 2014 asba nrw LVN new grad at $15 in LA area not I.E. which starts between $17-19 but now make $20 in hime health with a different agency out here.. What happened to our pay? Makes me wonder if some of those people were saying the truth I'm sure they were but why did the pay drop so low and incidentally some snf's want you to clock out to chart which i know is illegal but it's still being done which is why i resigned after a few weeks. Thks
