If you went to Trident Tech. can you tell me if it's possible to do all the nursing classes in a year? I've taken every single class except the NUR classes and clinicals. I got in for Fall 2009 and I'm just wondering if I'm going to have to spend 2 years only taking 2 classes a semester or if I can go through faster somehow?
Also, do you know if you can transfer to more easily to the Accelerated BSN at MUSC if you're already in clinicals? A nurse I met told me she had done that.
I graduate the ADN program in Dec of this year. The way the classes are set up, you can't do it faster then two years unless you do that new accelerated program, and I think it only starts in the summer. I got in a year early through the merit admission. Which was good! It will go by faster then you think, I can't believe I only have 2 nursing classes left! Good Luck to you! And remember each class in only a half of a semester so even though it seems like you will never make it through that particular class or instructor, you will have a new one in 7 weeks!
I am confused how it is 2 years...it seems to me to be 5 semesters? I am starting in the fall. I too have all of my prereqs done, well taking micro and pharmacology during summer school. Did anyone try to work while they were in the program? Just wondering if I could even part time waiting tables to pay my mortgage?

It is 5 semesters. There is a summer class NUR 206 I believe that is only offered in the summer. But its in between spring and fall so, its still 2 yrs to complete. It is when you go to clinical and take on the role of the Tech. Vitals, bed making, labs, ect. No meds though.
I worked FT at first and quickly realized that if I really wanted to pass, it was impossible. So I did prn, part-time for the remainder of the program. It is really fast-paced and you learn a lot. It goes by very fast. I graduated Dec '08 so some of the procedures may be a little different. But it is still a very tough program. They keep you on your toes, for sure. After you've graduated and passed boards, you will appreciate the toughness. You are prepared for the most part, for real world nursing.
So if I am starting in the Fall of 2010, I would graduate Dec of 2011 right? I feel like I am missing something? That is great that you completed the program what are you doing now? Yeah I am about to try to refinance my house that way I can work as little as possible! The whole program is 10,000 I believe, I just don't want to take on debt if I an help it. Any suggestions about any of this I would love your insight!
I've had the same question regarding the 2 year timeframe. I start Fall 2010 as well. I'm taking Health Calculations and Basic Pharmacology right now. Would love to catch up with some students starting this Fall with me!
I start Fall 2010 also. I am Happy to find you on this site. I will be taking Health Calculations and Pharmacology this summer. Have you ordered and received your uniform? If so, how does it fit?
