Did you go to Trident Technical College?

If you went to Trident Tech. can you tell me if it's possible to do all the nursing classes in a year? I've taken every single class except the NUR classes and clinicals. I got in for Fall 2009 and I'm just wondering if I'm going to have to spend 2 years only taking 2 classes a semester or if I can go through faster somehow?

Also, do you know if you can transfer to more easily to the Accelerated BSN at MUSC if you're already in clinicals? A nurse I met told me she had done that.

Good luck to those starting TTC's nursing program!! I started Fall 2009 and it is by far the hardest thing I've ever done! The classes will start off great and then 2nd semester hits like a brick wall; 159 is a make or break 7weeks, I don't want to scare ya'll but be prepared and a word of advice>take 159 after the winter break and use the winter break to read the chapters and study{NO JOKE} You might also want to start on that paper winter break as well, they give you the details on the nursing site. Use your time wisely and to your advantage! :twocents:

Thanks for the advise. How many papers are due for the Nursing program?

Not sure how many papers are due in the program altogether, but there is one paper in 159...

Does anyone know if there are many spaces typically open for the merit placement? Just applied today... eek!

I hope they are. I know others trying that route.

I am actually in the nursing program at Trident Tech now. I certainly did not get a great deal of help trying to get in myself a little over a year ago, so I hope this will be a help to someone. They just started an accelerated option about 2-3 years ago which last about 15 months. I was not able to complete it on pace because of the difficulty of juggling school and work full-time, but was enrolled and starting the beginning of June 2010 and would have been finished August 2011. I am looking to finish in the spring. The great thing about this option is the opportunity to get into the program quicker and finish quicker as well. The only problem is if you have other responsibilities, it can be very difficult to juggle. For the most part, many of your classes are taken at the same speed as the other folks in the ADN program. But at two points in the program, you take two classes together. Usually, 206 and 158 are taken together. And 207 and 208 are taken together as well. This accelerated option is not for the faint at heart, but it can be done as I have several friends who will attest to that. Of course, since nursing classes are accelerated in a sense to begin with, nursing school in general is not for the faint at heart. The requirements, if I remember correctly, and assuming they haven't changed, are completing 2/3 of the following. 1.) a 3.5 cum. GPA for your bachelors from an accredited college/university. 2.) 80 percentile (different than an 80%) on the Pre-Admittance Exam (PAX-RN) 3.) 3.0 cum GPA on your lab science pre-reqs at TTC/3.25 cum GPA at TTC on non-nursing pre-req classes (like English and such).
