Did you feel 100% ready??!!

Published

Hi guys,

I sit for my boards on April 10th, about 3 weeks from now. I've been studying for about 2.5 months and I'm using the Kaplan review course, Lacharity, and NCLEX 3500 to prepare. Even after all this studying I feel like I'll never be ready. Did those of you who passed go in knowing everything??

I personally feel like its impossible at this point. Everyday when I do questions I always have to write down something new that I never heard of. I have books filled with rationales. I guess I'm getting overwhelmed. Any advice will be greatly appreciated : )

I hear your pain about this. i have been preparing for over 1.5 months now, and i just feel the same..

My test in on tuesday, and although i feel like I'm ready, there's a part me saying "you need a little more"..

No! The more I studied, the more overwhelmed I became by all the information. I tested on Friday, March 21st and was sure I failed. 75 questions, took me about 30 minutes total. All in all, it was a very anti-climatic experience and I can honestly say that 90% of what I studied did not even apply (I did Hurst and Kaplan). Doing the Q banks on both helped the most in terms of giving me the confidence to face NCLEX style questions. Got the "good" pop-up on Friday/Sat and found out I passed according to quick results this morning. Good luck and don't let your nerves get the best of ya!

You're amazing! :roflmao: Wish I could do the same thing as you did. :) You hold the record! :) Your post gave me encouragement. :D Not to fear the exam and not to be anxious. Again, you're amazing.

Fwiw, I never felt ready. I studied my brains out after a rigorous plan of study, and I felt overwhelmed at times with what I didn't know. I passed in 75, but I was sure I'd failed. So many alternative format questions....which made me so nervous!

You've been preparing yourself for this. Keep up the good work. Day before the test, let your mind rest...do something for you! Night before the test, sleep well and eat a good breakfast day of. And take as much time as you need to answer each question, but don't doubt your gut. Good luck!!!

Hi NH2013. I test tomorrow also. I too feel like I could have done more. My exam is at 8 a.m. and I thinking that I should probably relax for the rest of the day. Are you still studying at this point? Good luck to you tomorrow!!

Im relaxing for the most part, but still reviewing here and there some ekg, labs and reading the pdf that floats around here.. Im not doing any practice questions, or doing any content... How is it going with you?

best of luck to you

I studied an average of 2.5 hrs per day for 3 months nonstop while working 50 + hrs a week as a medical assistant in a local office, I sleep about 6.5 hrs a day and just took my NCLEX this morning, finished about 3 hrs ago. I still feel not ready, but it's over! the only after effect is this pounding headache from lack of water drinking.

First off, NO you are not going to know everything! When you become a working RN, you won't know everything and 25 years into your practice you still won't know... Everything. This exam is created to determine if you are safe. Are you safe enough to care for the public? Don't feel like you need to know everything but study hard because this one exam will dictate whether you will become a nurse... Not something to be taken lightly in my opinion. Also, don't listen to these message boards that say you need a zillion SATA to pass. I am here to tell you that I passed in 75 questions and received less than 10 SATA , had no math on my exam or tele strips. The exam is different from person to person so don't get wrapped up in what and how you should be doing. Take the exam to the best of your abilities, knowing you couldn't have prepared any better. That way you will have no regrets when walking out of the testing center. Good luck! If your asking these questions I know that you do care and I am sure your scores will reflect that.

Thank you so much for your input!! I feel so pressured to get everything right! I am absolutely terrible!!! at SATA so that makes me feel a teeny bit better. Hopefully i get lucky and won't get bombarded with them .
