Okay, I have been a CNA and EKG TECH for years. I have decided to extend my limitiations and am ready to go for RN Pre req's. I have been scared the last few years to even attempt it. I didn't even learn my multiplication until I was like 20 ( dropped out of school in 7th grade, moved from school to school before that, One school was just learning there multiplication and then we moved and the other school had already learned theres. I got behind and taught myself). So, for year I had to count on my fingures:uhoh21:. Any ways I then decided to get my G.E.D and through prayer and dedication I passed! Well then I decided to go get my CNA and then got my Medical assistant:yeah:. I am just worried about this college work. I am not to bright at fraction and decimals etc.... Did any of you ever struggle like me and get through pre reqs???? Were you scared? What was your best way of learning?

Algebra scares me. I didn't understand it in high school, had a teacher that didn't want to take the time to explain it further. I slid through somehow, but didn't retain anything. When I took my entrance tests, I was placed directly in Algebra. But first I am taking basic math this summer, the class right before algebra. I'm not required to take it, but I felt it would help a lot to refresh that stuff before I take algebra this fall. And I"m so glad I'm doing this, some of the stuff I am breezing right through, but there is a LOT that I don't remember. I know if I weren't taking basic math first, I would have 10 times more trouble in algebra come fall.
I have thought about signing for a semester of both, basic math and algebra just for the heck of it! I still have a math phobia, but can work through it if needed, however, I don't have the math confidence. If I were able to find a class to sit through that works with my schedule, I would do it in a heartbeat to bring myself up to par; and I am a person who made it through a practical nursing program. I feel like you, I don't remember, what I did in high school; most of it was a blur and I feel like I am recapturing on things that were lost like I had amnesia.

I'm actually doing basic math online. Algebra I HAD to register for in the classroom, there's no way I could do that one online, I know I'll need lots of real live help! . But basic math so far I've been ok with an online class. There hasn't been anything yet that I couldn't understand through the book or the video tutorials online. So it's a great refresher at my own pace for the most part, and I know I'll be much better prepared for algebra after this!
